Sep 20, 2015 4:20 AM in response to AXFLby raaywong,Hi, just a quick question as I have the exact same problem with you but its on my old ipad. How did you disable the passcode on your last try because I can't even access my ipad? I'm a little confused.

Sep 20, 2015 4:26 AM in response to android351by softwater,It may depend on the device. That option didn't work with my iPad 2. I tried it more times than I can count, nor did I have the option to 'set up as a new iPad'.

Sep 20, 2015 4:30 AM in response to raaywongby softwater,Turn the iPad off (hard reset). When it's off, hold down the home button as you insert the USB cable (the other end should already be inserted in your computer). Keep it held down till you see an image of a cable and the iTunes icon displayed on the iPad screen. You're now in recovery mode and can do the 'update' or 'restore' thing in iTunes.

Sep 20, 2015 4:30 AM in response to raaywongby AXFL,You have to put it into recovery mode and then do a restore. once it's done, it will take you through the setup (wifi, passcode and etc). In this setup choose not to set up the passcode.

Sep 20, 2015 4:35 AM in response to tblueoceanby BuckminsterBond,Hello
Same...
Have tried to install io9 onto my son's ipad 2. Unfortunately the ipad is now 'stuck'. The update is at about 25% and the screen is showing >slide to upgrade and has been for some hours.
Have now tried to reboot the ipad numerous times.
Can't connect the ipad to itunes (latest version) - itunes message - 'to allow access please respond on your ipad'
So we're stuck.
Have searched on the line and seems that there are others having the same issue, but no-one yet with a solution (100+ on the post alone)
Trust that there is someone out there far smarter than me with a solution...please help.

Sep 20, 2015 8:23 AM in response to harpreet0singhby sharin73,Thank you for this. All other "workarounds" did NOT work for me. Trying the "bypassing the passcode" option, caused me to encounter the constant reboot bug. Different Apple support personnel were ok with me just having a factory reset making my phone because "...at least it's usable". It took me 12+ hours before stumbling upon your option of downgrading to 8.4.1.
I don't have it in me at this point to try to upgrade to 9 from here. I'll save that for another day in which stabbing my eyes out seems like fun option. -

Sep 21, 2015 4:58 AM in response to tblueoceanby kahuaina,See this thread. Re: iPad stuck in infinite reboot loop after iOS9 update
Numerous of us have gone through the 'endless update of death' loop, and the combo fix to update from a 8.4.1 firmware and install from a clean new blanked device from previous backup seemed to work.

Sep 21, 2015 8:23 AM in response to tblueoceanby Herrie,Dear fellow users/colleagues,
I spent 2 days in a 'quest' on internet. Finally I found a working solution. NOT in a number of steps to do, but in a program, free downloadable and working.
Unfortunately a post here in which I mentioned the webaddress and the name were prohibited, so I will not even try to give it again.
In order to overcome this, simply send me a private e-mail and I will provide you with the detail in response.
Regards
Harry B., AKA herrie

Sep 21, 2015 5:56 AM in response to sharin73by Vince Medlock,Thanks for the info. Trying it now. This will be at least the 6th time I've tried to install this update. "Frustrated" doesn't begin to touch it.
I think there's an Android in my future. At least with them, I DON'T expect it to "just work."

Sep 21, 2015 6:01 AM in response to Vince Medlockby Vince Medlock,Update: I was trying to update from iOS 7. Despite what Apple would have us believe, this is simply not possible on some devices. Using 8.4.1 as an interim step appears to have solved the problem, and iOS 9 seems to be working fine on my iPhone 4S now.
After a couple days of the Slide to Upgrade and the infinite rebooting bugs, I was tempted to stay on 8.4.1 until the kinks are ironed out. Unfortunately, I was reminded in about 30 minutes why I never updated to 8 in the first place. I'm sure that KitKat and Lollipop have their own issues, but at this point I think I'd just enjoy a new set of glitches.

Sep 21, 2015 1:21 PM in response to harpreet0singhby squatch,my 4th Gen iPad ended up in the infilite update-reboot cycle after going to iOS 9. the funny thing is that it worked for hours before it started to happen. i got prompted to agree to new iCloud T&C's and that's when it started.
anyway, the above saved me and, because i had iCloud backups, i didn't really lose anything
cheers!

Sep 21, 2015 4:42 PM in response to tblueoceanby blodwig,All of this assumes that iTunes can see your device. I've upgraded to IOS 9, tried to do a restore from iCloud, but it failed. I'd like to try to restore from iTunes, but for some reason, iTunes can longer detect my post IOS 9 iPad. I have zero opportunity to interact with the iPad at this point, as it goes through the install, terminating in a perpetual "Slide to Unlock" and is undetectable by iTunes (although windows explorer can still see my iPad). Any ideas?

Sep 21, 2015 11:41 PM in response to blodwigby ioregan,Has anyone tried the following: reboot, then slowly drag up the camera until it shows the passcode. Don't push it all the way, just enough to enter your code.
Enter your code and that gets you in. Turn off your passcode and wait for a bug fix

Sep 22, 2015 1:18 AM in response to blodwigby mwalsh5757,Yeah, iCloud restore doesn't work under 9. I found that out the hard way.
So when you put your iPad in recovery mode iTunes doesn't see it? What about when it's in DFU mode?
