Q: iOS 9 podcast app video in fullscreen

Before the update of the iPad to iOS9, it was possible to enjoy video podcasts full screen.

Now after the update, videos are played only in a small area of the screen.

Besides there are big bright white areas with controls and title.

Any one an idea how to switch to full screen?

It is quite hard to understand for me how apple programmer responsible for podcast app upgrade for ios9 can remove full screen and his boss will approve that...that is key functionality of that app - showing iPad beauty as ideal device for videopodcast! Unbelievable.

Hope upgrade will come soon, podcast is tye main reason why I love iPad...

The only reason Apple has been so non-responsive to this idiocy or actually did it in the first place is MONEY! Apple must have a Podcast viewer ready for SALE and wanted to DOWNGRADE the free included application in iOS9, so all their sheep (users) would have to pay yet again more money, for something they already OWNED! Remember the Apple moto '''more IS more''', but when Apple has BILLIONS in cash reserves, the last thing they need to do is **** off the user base. They lost me and I was ready to buy my 8th iPad (pro) and yet another iPhone...back to Android and let them **** me off for years now. Apple is greedy and wholly unrefined in stealing from their user base...just like Microsoft was now!

iOS 9.0.1 just came out, a "bug fix" release. The Podcasts app is still broken for videos. Unbelievable.

I have the iPad 2 Air that is only a few months old. I watch podcasts on it everyday while I work.  No full screen mode for podcasts is truly ridiculous and step backwards.  Come on Apple, fix this ASAP!

    Sadly I don't think it's a bug...

Is Apple going to address this?

I think it's a problem with the picture in picture feature. Shame it wasn't fixed in latest update. Wonder if Apple cares, as they are probably more interested in new IOS9 features. When I went to genius bar, they had no clue there was a problem, said there was no fix. Wanted to know why I just couldn't watch videos in landscape mode, with only 1/2 screen with the video. Pitiful.

The latest sw release is 9.1 beta 2. And as mentioned above, not corrected. It's simply pathetic of Apple. iPad Air 2 was the top model less than one year ago. If you go to an apple shop they haven't replaced the sw yet. No wonder why. They should be really ashame of themselves.

The biggest problem (besides the issue itself) is awareness.

Apart from here where else are you reading of the issue? A topic on MacRumers is the only place outside of here.

If you go to any of the reviewers you don't see anything being mentioned of the problem, so why is that the case?

Either it's not so much an issue (which clearly we know it is), it's bad reviewing (I can accept that for a good number or reviewers), or it's simply a use which does not seem to gather much of an audience.

I'm betting on the last one. Apart from the good members here how many of your family and friends are aware of the problem with the Podcast App?

Report it as an issue to Apple here ~ http://www.apple.com/feedback/podcasts_ios.html

I'm going to guess that the majority of iPad owners don't even know what a podcast is, let alone play video podcasts. As for the reviewers (and most of the people who hang out here), most of us have given up on Apple's Podcasts app long ago. moving on to 3rd party solutions.

WWhat a load of bullocks. Most, I've yet to met just one. So save your presumptions and guessing for yourself. Your opinion ain't worth a dime, facts are. And they show you're dead wrong.

This is just the public forum for us to help each other out. I don't know how often anyone from Apple reads these, if at all. In addition to my earlier post here I also sent feedback to http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html and  http://www.apple.com/feedback/podcasts_ios.html .

Maybe if enough of us file our complaint via the feedback links above Apple will eventually fix this issue.

    One can hope.
