Q: iOS 9 podcast app video in fullscreen

Before the update of the iPad to iOS9, it was possible to enjoy video podcasts full screen.

Now after the update, videos are played only in a small area of the screen.

Besides there are big bright white areas with controls and title.

Any one an idea how to switch to full screen?

iPad 2, iOS 9

Made a report on both links. Bug/broken feature, since I don't want to request a feature that has been there in prior versions! Damnit...

    Feedback sent.

This is unbelievable, because most of the time Apple creates gorgeous user interface, but a video app without full screen ? Seriously ?

Just been on the chat with Apple cs and Jesus a bunch of burocrats, they said there is resolution but wouldn't elaborate at all.

Senior advisor Ryan told me to take my one device that ran firmware 9.01 and contact them again. I continued to dick for info on how the resolution would benefit us/me it. They refused to help me on 9.1 b. E. Tatta 2. All my other firmware bugs had no interest for them too.

    They even removed this post..

SO now I post it again. Apple don't remove my posts. It makes be extremely mad.

I have purchased downcast now.  Still use iPad.

Hey Apple support, when you read this, would be nice to give me this money back, then no need to make your own Apps bug free, or to give good answers to all have spend their money for such "premium" products.

Maybe Apple programmers don't use Apple products....?

I've complained twice to the apple.com/feedback site.

I don't know how much good it will do though.

Here we are 9.0.2 and the Podcast app still looks horrible in landscape on an iPad with no full screen option that every other video paying app has had forever. Why has this mayor bug not been fixed? This will look great on the iPad Pro while wasting half the screen to bright white bars top and bottom. Someone at Apple really messed up and they are continuing to mess up by not fixing this bug.

Don't count on anything getting fixed anytime soon.

I know from experience with audiobooks that Apple does not invest too much effort in these things. Since iOS 7 audiobooks have been broken. No chapters or chapter titles and so on. Many complained about this. With iOS 8.4 Apple integrated audiobooks with iBooks Which was an utter disaster. It became unusable because the audiobook would randomly change the current playing position to a few hours back or forward within the same audiobook. This finally got resolved with iOS 9.

So, I guess we might have luck and get this fixed with iOS 10 or iOS 11.

When everyone that will buy a paid podcast viewing app has done so THEN Apple will fix this. They did it so they can extract MORE MONEY from the user base once again...thieving started with Jobs and at least it lives on! I bought my Android Asus tablet yesterday and TNSS looks GREAT on it!!! BYE BYE Apple.

Hello, here's my two cents (also posted as an IOS Feedback form):

    1) no fullscreen video on iPad: this is a significant blunder, and also the single reason why I won't buy the iPad Pro I was so eager to get. Good thing I never upgraded my main iPad (Air 2) to IOS 9, though I've got it on my iPad Air 1.

    2) no jump forward and back buttons in landscape on iphone: another blunder, thank God I was able to downgrade my main iPhone (6 Plus) to 8.4.1 on time. I'm not upgrading it to IOS 9 until this is corrected.

    3) removal of the old My Podcasts "tiled" layout: the new layouts are too hard to use on an iPhone, esp. due to the small text. The old layout, where each podcast could be displayed using a big square tile instead of only a "list" view, was much easier, esp. when the iphone is not in one's hands (e.g. on a stand, car holder, etc.).

This is very bad design... how did this ever get through focus groups and testers...

Is easy to see with only 4 pages of posts that this isn't a big issue for the millions of other users.   So.. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for Apple to fix/add full screen back in.     I'd like suggestions from anyone that's found a good alternative app.   Even if I have to pay money, it would be worth it.   I'm tired of getting frustrated every time i go to play one of my video podcasts.      Any good video podcast suggestions ????

I have returned to Downcast. The only advantage Pocasts! had for me was its interface with my car. Other than that, Podcasts! is a weak knockoff of Downcast.

Thank you for the suggestion.   I've already migrated and setup all my shows and playlists.   Works great!    I especially like the dark borders on the video playback when not fully maximized.    Just makes you wonder why Apple would have chosen white!    Anyways, thank you again for your help!

Does Downcast show you the incremental jumps (15, 30sec etc) when you are in full screen video?

I know it shows them on the lists screen (right at the top of the screen) but couldn't see any way to jump forward a pre determined time when viewing the video full screen.
