Do you see any error messages?

Hi! This may be due to a software bug. Try the steps below. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

  • Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
  • Press and hold on the Home button
  • Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

Restore your device to factory settings. Note that this will erase the data from your device.

Take a look this Apple Support article: Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

If these steps don't work, contact Apple and ask for help. This may be a hardware issue.

Thanks! I thought I was the only one having problems. Just got a iPhone 6s plus and it was working fine and every once in a while it appears the fingerprint reader isn't working if I redo the fingerprint it starts working again. I thought it was a secondary cable i use to charge but my husband uses same cable and doesn't have any problems. Fingers crossed and hope this keeps mine working.
