iOS 9 Spotlight Search not working properly

I filled out the iPhone bug report listed above. I encourage others to do the same!

Has anyone tried the newer 9.1 betas? I tried beta 1 and 2 and still had the problem, but haven't tried 3 or 4 (released today) to see if they fix it. Also, I have an iPad that's on the same contact list (iCloud sync) that searches Contacts fine, so can confirm it's not *every* device on the account, it's just something wrong with my iPhone's search index.

Having the same issue as everyone else. I have tried the phone re-start approach which didn't fix issue. Will submit the feedback as well. Hopefully fixed in the next version.

HI. I have a huge problem with the search function of iOS 9.

In ios8 i could search for different stuff like sky (for the skyscanner app) but the app itself id named "flyg" (flight in swedish) on my phone. So to find this app on my phone now in ios9 i have to search for the exakt name, "flyg" and not skyscanner as i could before... This is the same with all apps. Can not search for keywords but i have to search for the exakt name of the app... Is this problem the same for you? Is it known by apple?

TEAM APPLE FOR GOODNESS SAKE.......this situation is going from bad to worse. i have now tried to dial directly from the spotlight search when a contact comes up in "mail". it dials a completely different number....wake up apple and fix this.

After further use I also notice that it does not find all events by the same name either. This search function is about useles...

Until now (including iOS 9.0.2 update) none of the suggested solution fixed the bug (some of the suggested solutions fixed the problem, but only for several hours, after which the bug is back).

APPLE TECH SUPPORT.....PLEASE...can someone get into this thread and admit its an issue being worked on. this has been the most replied to thread ive seen. cleary we are not all muppets and its a problem. stop jerking people around and at least acknowledge and that people are working on it. thank you in advance.

I was having problems with not being able to search text messages. Not sure if my contacts weren't searching, but I followed the steps on this page to change the language and it fixed the message search. Maybe it will fix contacts too.

i had the same problem, it seems the group(s) is the problem.. i used to sync contacts from facebook along icloud contacts.

after disabling the FB contacts sync, (under settings->facebook->contacts) the contacts did show, and groups button under the contacts app disappear but search stopped working:

here is the solution:

1. Resync facebook contacts (Settings->Facebook->Contacts - Turn On),

2. Close all open programs.

3. Enter into the contacts app.

4. Press the Groups, and press show all contacts.

5. Remove the Facebook sync (opposite step 1)
