iOS 9 Spotlight Search not working properly

HI,

On my iPhone 5 32gb Spotlight Search is not working and hasn't been since around the time of iOS 8. When I search for keywords that I know have been used in messages from a year ago it only shows results back to the middle of this year. I have read a lot of threads about the issue and have tried the suggestions:

-changing the phone language which seems to have worked for some people

-sending myself emails from my iCloud account

-sending myself a text

-I have reset all phone settings

-restoring from backup

None of which have worked I'm loathe to restore as a new phone as deleting all of my texts defeats the purpose of wanting to search my old messages

Amy suggestions?

Thanks

iPhone 5, iOS 9, null

Hi, I had the same issue with iOS 9 and not seeing my contacts in the searches. I decided to go to spotlight search, toggle off contacts and siri suggestions, shutoff and restart my iPhone, went back to spotlight search, toggle on contacts first, did a search for contacts and behold I was able to see my contact names as I typed e.g. Hugh, I then toggled on siri suggestion.

I hope that this solves your problem as it did with me.

All the best

Same problem. I solved it by shutting down all the spotlight switches in Preferences/General/Spotlight. Then restart the phone by pressing Home and Side buttons at the same time.

Finally, toggle on only the contact switch in spotlight. Wait for a few minutes and all the contacts must appear now.

Later, you can enable other searches if you want.

I hope this can solve the problem to anyone.

Fernando's "fix" made mine better but still missing a lot of contacts in the search. For example I have about 20 different Chris's in my contacts and when I search for Chris it finds maybe 10. One of the Chris's is actually in my favorites, spotlight search only finds his if I enter his full last name. FYI, I have over 800 contacts in my phone.

This worked for me (previous poster).

I fixed this problem by heading into the Contacts App, click on Groups and choose to ‘hide all contacts’ then switch back to ‘show all contacts’.

Another issue with upgrading to iOS9 - Notes. Unless everything Apple is upgraded to iOS9 AND El Capitan for MacBook... Your note syncing functionality will not work. I contacted Apple Support - no workaround, no way to un-upgrade your notes.. Have to wait for El Capitan to have notes sync properly across all three iPad, iPhone and MacBook Air platforms...

Seemed very un-Apple like..
