Q: change or deactivate iOS 9 newsfeed on the search screen

I have an iPhone 5 and just updated to iOS 9 (all german). What I really do not like is the content of the newsfeed that is presented to me on the search screen. How can I change what content is presented to me (no more news from spiegel.de or focus.de please!) or if that is not possible disable news on that search screen alltogther but keep all the rest od the proactive search features on that search screen? Am I really forced to look at all this crap every day now?

You should be able to turn off News in Settings>General>Spotlight Search>News>Off. That doesn't work for me since I already used the News app. Try Settings>General>Spotlight Search>Spotlight Suggestions>Off. That will disable the News search, I think.

Settings>General>Spotlight Search>Splotlight Suggestions (or in german: Einstellungen>Allgemein>Spotlight-Suche>Siri-Vorschläge) will disable suggestion alltogether not just the news.

Settings>General>Spotlight Search>News does not exist in german iOS 9, probably because there is no News app in german iOS 9.

I Would have no way of knowing what is in iOS in the German version. I can turn off Spotlight suggestions and still find documents and all sorts of other things .... Items on the web, emails, etc. I have no idea what you are not seeing.

Thank you very much, that did the trick!

@Visitor Q: Fellow German here. Do not disable "Siri-Vorschläge" but keep on scrolling further down to "Spotlight-Vorschläge".

Thanks, that worked, although I am pretty shure that Settings>General>Spotlight Search>Spotlight Suggestions ("Spotlight-Vorschläge") will not just disable the news. I wonder what else it will disable.

It's the same nonsense on the Austrian Newsfeed. I managed to turn the news off thanks to your help but I would've rather been able to pick the news sites that I want to see. And not been forced to read the worst paper of them all (I mean Krone for crying out loud!?!?)??
Why would those crappy sites be pre-picked and not let people change it? Can't be any history tracking because I would never go there.

Would be great if one could manage the sites....
