iOS 9 won't let me send iMessages? Says that I need to verify my phone number? Can somebody help me with this?

okay I downl iOS 9 yesterday evening, it asked me to input my phone number so I could send iMessages, now it's about 12 hours later and I'm still not able to send iMessages. When I go go settings then message settings and click on iMessage it just shows my phone number in grey with a loading circle on the left of it. My iMessage emails are perfectly fine and don't say anything about verifying, it's just my phone number. I need to fix this so I can confide my conversation with my grandmother that has an iPad and no cell.

iPhone 6, iOS 9, 64gb

If the steps from the aforementioned article don't work, try restarting/resetting your device. This won't delete your data stored on this device.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button
Press and hold on the Home button
Keep holding both buttons until the display turns off and back on with Apple logo on it.

Alternatively, you may go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings

I have this problem as well, And I live in an area with no service so iMessage is usually my saving grace but just like the above person my number is grayed out and has a little loading symbol next to it. Its been about 12 hours myself and I tried both you fixes and got nothing, I've also done a hard and soft reset to no avail.
