Minimize upload time to Youtube from FCP6 mov file

Which settings or third party software should I use to minimize upload times for long videos to YouTube. Using FCP6, have Studio if better to compress to another file format rather than leave in Quicktime.

Compressor will let you control the size of your file better than most third party software (assuming you're not investing in a high end product like

Episode). Do some tests of the same video at different bit rates and different resolutions, Because YT re-compresses everything and if you get the bit rate too low, the image quality may not be satisfactory. Changing the format to something other than QuickTime per se shouldn't affect upload speeds; It's possible YT's processing works any faster with containers than others but I doubt it's significant for files of the same size.
