Move songs in compilation to artist automatically

See Grouping tracks into albums. As long as iTunes is keeping the media folder organized the files themselves will move around when you make changes to the metadata.

You could make a new playlist called say Non compilations, select and drag the non-compilation albums from the Compilations folder into it, then select all tracks in the list, Get Info, and clear the compilation flag.

In general anything that has Various Artists as the Album Artist should probably have the Part of a compilation flag set as well.
