iOS 9 News app won't go past opening screen. Spinning circle.

I've tried killing it, restoring, power off/on. The news app just opens and never shows any tabs or the "let's begin" options. Apple ID is logged in. Cloud accounts setup, etc. If I send a link from news from another phone it actually opens in the news app without issue, but as soon as you close the article you are back to square one. ;(

It just shows the spinning circle at the bottom and never goes beyond that. My other two family phones work without issue.

Similar issue- I have Classical Music 1 and 2. Both are IOS 9 apps- that will not open now that i’ve Downloaded IOS10. They begin to open and then quit before any music plays.

In re the above helpful reply: I do not see either app listed in I-Cloud, while other musical downloads, loaded both prior to and after my installing IOS10- do appear-

if this is relevant at all.

I have a similar problem in ios 11 on ipad. News app shows a blank screen. I went to setting, but I don’t see a disable option. I tried deleting the app entirely, then downloaded it again. blank screen still. It works on my iphone

I fixed this by going into Settings -> iCloud and disabling the News app. I then went back to the News app (may need to force close it first) and was able to finish setup and make my selections. I then went back into Settings -> iCloud and re-enabled the News app and merged my data and it is still working at this time.

That did the trick. Took two times but the second time around it re-prompted me for my password and then I got the Get Started link.

My issue turned out to be due to a custom profile (I use my personal device for work), and they had disabled some cloud features, which inadvertently broke the news app.
