They fixed it in the link above! Problem with a kernel in iTunes.
I have read and on 2 system with the same software i have the same kernel extension that date is august
Someone on a french forum, said it could be iTunes 12 for the trouble, i will try on an older system this WE
After encountering the same issue, i resolved it in the simplest way.
1) Make sure you dont have an iTunes 12.3 .dmg file sitting around. If you do, delete it.
2) Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download the latest iTunes
3) Install it like the CHAMPION you are!
4) Enjoy USB tethering like the good ol' days
Love ya!
hello,
I have done your steps and it works !
I have see that the installer updated the kernel extension :
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext
I fink i have using the update by the software update, does this process didn't allow iTunes to update
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext ?
So strange !!
If you didn't find the USB iPad / iPhone entry in Preferences / Network you have add then by using the + button and don't forget to apply the settings.
Thanks - solved - easy - excellent
This worked for me- thank you for the solution!
Just to let everyone know that in my case I just:
- downloaded iTunes 12.3 and reinstalled it and I was back up and running.
- I did not have the 12.3 DMG lying around
My APP Store Updates for iTunes showed iTunes being installed three times a few weeks back, all on the same day. This to me was an indication that something went wrong with that update and iTunes was partially installed.
Hope this helps other people.
I just reinstalled the newest iTunes and my USB tethering started working instantly. I'm using a MacBook Pro running 10.10.5 with an iPhone 6 running 9.0.1.
For my case, i had the same problem. I just downloaded iTunes from the apple site (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/), and installed it without deleting anything, and problem solved.
OSX 10.11(El Capitan)
iOS 9.0.1
USB Tether not working for OS X El Capitan and Iphone 5 running IOS 9.0.2. If I download Itunes as suggested above, what happens to my existing Itunes with over 10,000 songs added. I update iCloud Music Libary every time I add something.
When updating iTunes, your library should not change. In my case I updated and my library remains the same.
Funny the kext version number was 8.0.1 before and after the iTunes install. But it did work. Thanks. Maybe it was some other error?
