The battery widget is missing in iOS 9
Yesterday I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 9 but I didn't have the option to add battery widget to Notification Center . Resetting the phone didn't solve the problem.

It spontaneously stopped working on my iPad Pro (first gen) with ios 10.2. It wasn't showing my Apple Pencil after plugging it in to charge, so i removed the widget and added it again. And now the widget wont even show up at all. It's supposed to at least show the iPad battery in the widget. I don't have the widget at all. ***? Why can't Apple get any of their software to function properly RELIABLY??
I believe you have to have an apple watch or something bluetooth connected to the phone for this.
yes I guess so, thank you
I do have two bluetooth devices currently connected. A Samsung earpiece and a Pebble watch. What are the real specific requirements? Specific bluetooth version? How about a list of compatible devices?
Just to add to this answer (which is correct) - it seems like some BT devices also trigger this widget. My Clamcase BT keyboard didn't do it but the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard does indeed trigger the widget on my iPad Air 2.
I have pebble and the battery widget on the "Today" notificaiton screen is not appearing for iphone or Pebble. I moved up to show in the Edit function. Just installed 9.0.1 hoping this fixed and not working yet.

I have the same issue. On an iPhone 5 with a Corsecca BT headset connected, the notification centre does not display Battery widget, neither in enabled apps, nor in the do not include section. Anyone?
