Q: Calendar and Contacts not syncing after iOS 9 upgrade

My iCloud and Exchange calendars and contacts stopped syncing after upgrading to iOS 9 on an iPhone 6. Mail is fine and iCloud notes are syncing correctly. It seems to be specifically calendar and contacts. I tried deleting the Exchange account and re-adding it with no luck. From desktop to web is working for both iCloud and Exchange, so definitely, the phone has the issues.

Anyone have a solve or things to check?

Nope 9.0.2 update did not fix my calendar syncing issues.

ical subscribed calenders not my google calendars. Both sync correctly with iPad just not iPhone.

Thanks. Good to know. I hope 9.1 will fix the issue.

Check if the option "Push" is enabled. It seems that contacts syncing is working only if it is enabled.

I was definitely enable. It's not a push issue. In fact when i had iCloud or exchange was enabled, they didn't even show in the calendars list.

I don't know whether my contacts were affected, but I was experiencing the calendar issue in a big way, with my phone and ipad. Deleting and re-setting-up the account fixed my calendar issue.

I have noticed over time -- since long before the upgrade to iOS 9 -- that contacts spuriously disappear from my 'contacts' list. Most problematic. And as far as I know there is no reliable fix for that.

I had the same problem. Signout of iCloud on one of your devices then sign back in. That should take care of the issue. It worked for me.

Just tried it. It resolved nothing. I probably lost a bunch more contacts, though, and maybe some appointments. Time will tell.

Apple isn't very good at synchronization logic.

Something else I observed, is that in my VIP folder, I can click 'Edit' to reveal message tick-circles, and controls for the mailbox -- but absolutely everything there is greyed out so I can do nothing. I discovered this when I decided to try 'mark all as read'.

Thanks. Sound simple, but that doesn't work and it doesn't address the same issue with Exchange.

    THIS WORKED FOR ME:

    Settings

    iCloud

scroll to bottom and Sign Out. (SIGN COMPLETELY OUT, NOT JUST CONTACTS.)

Do not keep items on iPhone. (this can take a minute or so, so don't panic.. you're phone is not freezing)

RE-Sign In to iCloud.  Everything was there, and synced back and forth to Mac & iPhone.

    Hope this helps!!

The process you describe is exactly what I did -- pretty familiar with the process. It was ineffective. So sad. Also really puzzled that what yesterday was only one phantom message notification turned into *9*. Highly weird.

Glad that worked for you, but it did not for me. Doing something similar with an Exchange account did not work either.

Without asking the obvious, but you never mentioned it, did you upgrade your Mac to OS X 10.11, (El Capitan) yesterday?  Most of the iCloud things are working only with iOS 9.

One computer has been on the Public Beta of El Capitan for several weeks and one has not been upgraded. But, that is irrelevant to the issue IMO.

Hello,  I am having the same issue.    If I add a contact or an appointment in the phone, it will sync to all devices. If I delete or edit a contact or appointment in say the ipad, it will sync to all devices except the phone (iphone 6).

I have been on support chat and also had a phone call from one of the support team last night and for some reason syncing started working while I was speaking with him.

This morning it is back to not working properly.  I say properly as it will work sometimes, after a long delay, or sometimes I have to switch the phone totally off and reboot.

It is basically very buggy and this has only been since the ios 9 update.  I have mentioned to support that I am not alone with this issue,  as at first they were suggesting it was a phone fault.  it is a new phone though and the issue only started after installing ios 9.

I have another call tomorrow night.  If they find a fix, I will update!
