Oct 25, 2015 6:49 PM in response to Rontu2by av4u001,I don't know what you are all complaining about! After all, with iOS9 Apple have introduced us to many more facinating Emoji and wallpaper choices. Who cares about the loss of valuable and critical emails, attachments and the like when Apple spoil us in this way? And, perhaps Apple realise that I am so stupid that I can not possibly manage storage on my devises for myself, but need to reply on them to do this for me. Seriously though, the fact that Apple allowed this through in the first place and have not fixed it since, is just plain insulting. So, I implore anyone reading this thread" PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT JUST BECAUSE THIS THREAD HAS SO MANY POSTS THAT EVERYTHING IN UNDER CONTROL, AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE INVOLVED!!! To make a difference, YOU (and anyone else you know....) need to fill in a feedback form to Apple. And, not just for iPhone but for iPad too. All iOS devices are effected. So, fill out the iPhone form, and before you send it on its way, copy the comments you write then later paste them in to the iPad feedback form too. We need to 'burn Apples house down' with complaints on their feedback forms. DO IT NOW AND DO IT OFTEN!

Roger that av4u001. Thank you.

Oct 26, 2015 1:17 PM in response to Rontu2by av4u001,Has everyone reading this thread sent off at least one feedback form for each of the iPhone and iPad to Apple today? If, not, please do so. Today and every day until Apple fix this thing.
I just hope that this issue will impact badly on someone really important (and I say that with no disrespect to any one else) so that its profile might get raised, particularly in the media.

Oct 27, 2015 3:38 AM in response to Jlkochanby gunsch66,We have this problem too (a company in Germany)!
All our field worker do not have any mobile access to emails which moved into the archive.
The German apple support I contacted indeed told me they are still working on it,
but I do not really believe in it!
What a great disaster!!!

Oct 27, 2015 8:03 AM in response to Jlkochanby peter144a,We installed AltaMail Go (the free version). It took some emails to the company (quickly answered) to get the settings correct but we can now report that emails deleted from the server (that ultimately give - message not downloaded - from the Apple mail program) REMAIN in AltaMail on the iPhone.

Oct 27, 2015 8:13 AM in response to peter144aby DrJogalog,This issue has absolutely nothing at all to do with emails being removed from the mail server. The emails ate deleted from the device regardless of them being present or otherwise on the mail server.

Oct 27, 2015 10:17 AM in response to DrJogalogby Doreen250,I use Verizon e-mail, and in my case it does seem to correspond with them coming off of Verizon's server. I logged in to my Verizon email directly and deleted a newer e-mail and within 24 hours got the message "this message has....." on that particular e-mail on my phone. Otherwise it is happening only on the messages over 1 month old which is when I have my iMac mail deleting them off of Verizon's server. I am lucky that I use a device that is not deleting my messages, otherwise this would be a disaster for me and I feel for all those that it is. I have sent in a complaint via the link almost every other day and will continue to do so!

Oct 27, 2015 11:53 AM in response to Doreen250by carolinseattle,After having this issue for a month and trying all kinds of things to fix it on my part, I think it has more to do with the Mail App being unable to store the messages. It seems that inevitably mail content gets deleted so that the total storage for the App drops to somewhere in the 30's MB. I have observed this many times. The content that gets deleted is somewhat random, but it seems to largely target mail with attachments, perhaps in an effort to reduce storage. I am not even sure if being off wifi really has anything to do with it like I a originally surmised. Is this a bug or a redesigned Mail App... Why can't one set up an email account with POP3 as well as IMAP from the get go. Why have to fool the system and then select POP. I never got real answer from the senior adviser that I spoke with about the issue. I was only told they were looking into it and it would be resolved by a software update or by my being given instructions on how to set it to work.

iOS9.1 allows setup of a POP account without having to fool the mail app. I received feedback from a sr tech advisor that engineering is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. There have been multiple posts from others reporting that same feedback. Hopefully this happens sooner rather than later.

Oct 27, 2015 12:44 PM in response to carolinseattleby mikes245,I agree, I think this is the issue. The other thing I have noticed is that the mail app is now consuming much more battery usage. This indicates that the app is downloading recent emails that have been previously downloaded and deleted from storage, rather than storing the emails until I delete them. Previously I had over 2GB of mail, now it never gets above the 30's MB, so it is clearly (and randomly) deleting emails from the phone and iPad. As the Apple mail app is built into the other apps as a default for mailing I am reluctant to change to another email app. But it's a serious issue that impacts on the basic use of my phone and iPad, so if it's not resolved, I may have to look at other options. It's a very bad performance from pole, and I'm surprised that the quality control is so poor.

Oct 27, 2015 12:57 PM in response to mikes245by Bernard Cawley,I can add to this thought that while AltaMail shows up on the share sheet (say, in Photos), if you use it to email photos they aren't sent. You can attach them to a note that starts in AltaMail and that works, but sharing via AltaMail doesn't work for me directly. I haven't pinged the developers about that as I would really rather go back to Apple's Mail app. Apparently the first beta of 9.2 was released today (saw this on MacRumors). No word yet on whether the POP email screw-up is fixed in that version. I posted the question but so far no responses about that in the thread there.

Oct 27, 2015 1:08 PM in response to Rontu2by carolinseattle,What I am referring to is that if I add a new email address and if that provider is Comcast I am taken to a screen on the App that only provides for an imap account. If I put in a wrong password then I go to a screen that gives me a choice where I can request POP and then correct the password. I call that fooling the system.

Oct 27, 2015 1:12 PM in response to av4u001by Bernard Cawley,Just went to do this again. Interestingly, iOS 9.1 isn't even in the pulldown menu for which version one is using. It stops at 9.02. *sigh*
