Lawrence, you don't know anything about the industry, do you?

    Check it here: http://omgdgt.com/2014/12/microsoft-promises-to-fix-the-problem-too-sensitive-di splays-lumia-535/

Other companies do admit when the bugs are present in their product and do tell when the fix is expected.

I myself work in the IT industry and we always tell our customers when they can expect a fix.

All you do is finding stupid excuses for a company that, as you said, in 30+ years never acknowledged an issue, which simply shows that the company did not give a **** about its customers for the last 30+ years.

Why don't you find a courage once in your life and admit that you are wrong?

I've been working in the computer industry since before you were born. Over 50 years. I'm happy to see you found ONE counterexample.

But it's clear that you and others are simply going around in circles that will do nothing to solve your problem, so I'll leave you to it.

Have been watching this discussion for some time. Apple Genius Bar in Canberra suggest the problem is an ISP issue but they (Telstra) deny it. As no solution seems to be forthcoming can some one suggest a good alternative email App that will support POP and IMAP accounts provided by gmail, Hotmail and Telstra on both IPADs and iPhones. Any experience with or comment Altamail or Mmail?

I have also been following this thread for a long time. I have been in contact with a Senior Apple Advisor who has mentioned to me on several occasions that this is a known problem to Apple Engineering and they promise a solution. People need to stop bantering others and just provide relavent information on what they are experiencing and if they have found a solution temporary or otherwise that others may be able to use.

That is what these support communities were created for. I have found useful information for other issues on these communities before. Unfortunately on this one it appears we have to wait for the update from Apple.

Lawrence, it seems you can't read, can you?

I have given your examples, you just ignore them and continue to defend Apple.

Mr Finch, you gave Serguei a commitment, you wrote it in black and white. You've failed.

You just keep defending what to many customers is indefensible and unacceptable.

Customers don't need any comments from yourself or other Apple devotees to find other manufacturers, they are walking away themselves through choice.

Maybe you have some useful advice to offer regarding the problem which for many CUSTOMERS is a major headache.

My solution that works is to "update" to the most current iteration of iOS. That means you will have to commit yourself to become a public B-tester. That is easy ad straight-forward: just register on the appropriate apple-site, download and install and your e-mail won't get lost any longer.

Lawrence Finch wrote:"You should certainly buy some non-Apple smartphone. I'm sure that Samsung and LG make absolutely perfect products, that never have bugs, and they are completely forthcoming when the bugs they don't have are discovered."

Mr finch, thank you for comfirming in one of your recent posts that you consider Apple's silence on this bug as normal. I predicted this would be your opinion.

However you are wrong. I recently retired as an international CIO responsible for the  computer and coms systems in 27 factories in 10 countries. I have learned that there will always be bugs. This is acceptable and expected so I do not blame Apple for introducing software with a bug, althought with some thorough testing routines this one could have been avoided.  When bugs do appear there are three things users need:

    1) does the company know about it? (have they acknowledged the problem as this mostly means they are working on it)

    2) have they suggested or published a workaround pending a permanent fix?

    3) Have they indicated a fix date.

It is my experience that most companies with the exception of apple have always provided all this. There have been occassions microsoft has even published alerts for people NOT to take an upgrade, etc. Often via reseller, websites, technical support companies etc.

THIS is normal. There are more that one example of this. It is standard practice.

it is NOT for the users to find a fix to this issue as you seem to suggest but for apple to do so. All we need from Apple is a statement covering my three points. Thats all.

I dont know what it means to be a level 7 contributor. I suspect its to do with longevity on the forum, but having this label might make people think that you speak with some authority, while in fact your contributions add nothing and you seem to be a mere apologist for Apple.

As such your contributions dont add any value and as you seem to hint at, it would indeed be better if you refrained from contributing.

Letiss82 thank for the additional info. I was merely pointing out that this thread is about the whole message disappearing not just about not being able to open an attachement. The MIME problem is a different issue and well known. Google "apple device not opening MIME attachement" or something similar and you will find lots on that issue. This thread is specifically about  complete messages disappearing and the fact that they have an attachement does seem to have something to do with it. but those attachements could be opened perfectly well in the first place.

Its a different problem, so i was suggesting that you would not find an answer to your specific MIME problem in this thread.

that it is a bug in the operating system however seems to be quite clear.

I tend to forward such messages to an email account which i only open on my windows desktop and often this helps with attachements.

Not a good solution i know.

I've found no fix since trying early on in this thread. I have spoken to 2 senior Apple people and both told me they would look into it and disappeared. one gave me an email address, which l posted but someone (Apple of course do not read their own forum) deleted.

There is no fix, but the most telling piece of advice I got was never upgrade iOS or OS X until version .2!

look folks, in apple obviously the left hand doesnt know what the right is doing.

Every time someone speaks to a person in apple there is a different answer.

The only real fact we know is that the beta testers say the problem may have disappeared with the last version they are testing.

but obviously there is no point whatsoever to speak to anyone at apple.

Their support people havent a clue.

    Nothing new there

    • Fixing an issue that caused mail attachments to be inaccessible for some users with POP email accounts

3 Months plus and a sentence which by no means accurately describes the issue tucked in the middle of a long list of ***** ups.

    Very poor Apple, very poor!

Hey well, maybe all the Devotees that deny issues exist will in future just stay quiet. After all, how can they fix an issue if it don't exist.

    From my Apple support person:

    >Hello Peter,

I want to be the first if not the first, one of the first to notify you that iOS
update 9.2 was released today and it addresses the issue that you have been
experiencing with your  e-mail. Please update your devices if you have not
done so already and the issue should be resolved.

Thank you so much for your consistent communication and cooperation with us during
this time of investigation as our engineering team worked on resolving this for
    all customers with the issue.

    Have a nice day! <

Please post results after updating to 9.2.  Not yet available on my iPhone.

    Peter

Software Update shows iOS9.2 available so I'm downloading it now and after the install will report on how mail behaves.  The list of issues that are addressed is rather extensive so it seems that 9.1 was quite the gem.  Keeping fingers crossed that POP mail reverts to being properly functional.
