According to this - the D7200 is not supported in Mavericks
OS X Mavericks: Supported digital camera RAW formats - Apple Support
But if you upgrade to Yosemite (10.10) then you are covered
Digital camera RAW formats supported by OS X Yosemite - Apple Support
Hope this helps
Brian
PS - As 10.11 (El Capitan) is soon to be available - might be worth hanging on and do one update rather than two

Nov 19, 2015 10:56 PM in response to Brian O'Reillyby Bradford Sherman,Thanks, Brian. I eventually upgraded to El Capitan which brought D7200 support with it. Unfortunately, Aperture performance seems to have degraded significantly with El Cap compared to Mavericks.
I posted the following and the one response so far indicates that Aperture is using a surprisingly large amount of CPU when in list viewing mode - which is how I frequently use it. Bummer. I've got to believe a simple recompile of the source code might fix this - I'm guessing some crucial API has changed a bit... for the worse in Aperture's case.

Apr 9, 2016 12:16 PM in response to Brian O'Reillyby Marc.Speth,Then I must be stuck in a time loop or something .... because I just received a Nikon D7200 as a gift and when I try to open a RAW photo from it I get the message
... but I have Yosemite 10.10.5 installed and the updates in the Mac App Store says I have everything current.
From your post I located where I could download the RAW Update 6.04 which includes the D7200, and I downloaded it. But when I tried to install it I got:
So the system won't let me install it because it thinks I don't need it, and yet the system does NOT let me open RAW files from my camera.
Now what?

Apr 9, 2016 12:21 PM in response to Marc.Spethby Terence Devlin,The first message is from Adobe Photoshop. That uses its own camera raw encodings. It's quite independent of the OS support for Raw so you need to update that from Adobe or seek assistance from them.

Apr 9, 2016 12:27 PM in response to Marc.Spethby léonie,Mark,
the first error panel is from Adobe RAW. Check the RAW support of your Adobe Photoshop version. Nikon 7200 requires the Adobe RAW plugin 9.0, see: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html#Nik on
You are getting the second error message from the MacOS X RAW support, because you do not need to install the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.04. Aperture 3.6. iPhoto 9.6.1, Photos for Mac should be able to open the RAW files.

Apr 11, 2016 2:42 PM in response to léonieby Marc.Speth,I would Like to thank you and Terence for the clarification. Both of you were correct, which I discovered when I was able to open my RAW photos with Prieview, but not with Photoshop. So now I know what avenue I need to pursue.
