I am attempting to install iOS9 on my 5C. I've tried several times both via wifi and iTunes, but it isn't working. When trying trough iTunes, I got Error Message 3014. I have not idea what that means. I have adequate memory available for the update. Thanks for helping!

This error can mean that your your iTunes is not a compatible version, the phone is jailbroken, or that your computer was used to jailbreak some iOS device in the past and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used. Well, I have the latest version of iTunes and my phone is not jailbroken. The possibility exists that my kids did something like that with my computer, but not sure. Any idea how to overcome that issue?

All may be good with yours, but if your kids jailbroke their phones they are probably infected with spyware and viruses. If you share an Apple ID with them you should change every password you have ever used from the phone, and do something to undo the damage to their phones.
