Usb type c on a 2006 monitor?

I was moving my mac pro 2006 with my 20' cinema display but while pulling the cables out of power adapter i saw this bizarre cable which looks exactly like Usb c. ıs this possible? is usb c that old?

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5), 2006 version (1.1) with 7300GT
