Q: Restoring iPad - error code (-23)

I've forgotten the restrictions code on my son's iPad so want to restore it via factory reset. When I connect to iTunes in recovery mode, I keep getting error code (-23). iMac all updates installed, latest version of iTunes, only iPad plugged in via USB (nothing else), both turned off and back on again - same result. Is there any other way to do full reset?

thanks - managed to unlock eventually by erasing from Find My iPhone. However, post full reset, still have the 23 error so may drop it into the Apple Store to see if it's a hardware issue they can address
