Q: iOS9 Airdrop to Mac not working

Trying to connect iPhone 6+ iOS9 to 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 via Airdrop but not showing up on iMac or iPhone, worked perfectly before iOS 9.

iPhone can Airdrop to another iPhone and iMac can Airdrop to another Mac, but not iPhone to/from Mac.

iOS update was originally done OTA and have reinstalled through iTunes.

Have tried all suggestions I have come across but still they won't connect.

Anyone have similar problems?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 21.5 in 2.9GHZ i5 16 GB

Not sure what happened, but today I was able to Airdrop iOS 9 to OS X 10.10.5 and vice versa, nothing had changed with either device set up.

Me too. What are they playing at?  Pressure sensitive screens etc etc but they can't even get the basics right. It's ios 9 that's the problem as I have another device on ios8 and it works no problem.

I had the reverse, was able to Airdrop from iPhone 6 on iOS 9 yesterday (though it identified my iMac on 10.10.5 with a grey square with my initials instead of my usual avatar), but today, iPhone is not able to find the iMac and the iPhone does not appear in the list of wireless devices in my network as it usually does. At the same time, if I changed the Airdrop settings to "visible to everyone", the iMac could see the iPhone... but not the other way around.

iOS 9 has been a real mess, worst iOS upgrade for me. There are also problems with iCloud backups. The benefits do not outweigh the nuisances. In the future I will not upgrade to a new iOS until at least one bug fix release has been posted.

Whatever happened to "it just works", Apple? How about "insanely great"? Those were the days.

exactly, iCloud tested on iPhones 6 Plus and 2 iPads Air 2, there is no way to back up those devices. However, icloud app on mac says that the back ups takes 25 GB of my 50GB iCloud storage....***???

I  mean THE MOST BASIC functionality is gone = AirDrop, iCloud Back ups, Spotlight does not search contacts(LOL) and the fact that I cant send emails via Yosemite native app is just bonus.

    It just su$k$! Insanely r3tard3d!

I have the same problem with my IPhone 5s to my IMac late 2014. Shortly connected than directly after seconds break the connection. Nearly no chance to transfer files.

    APPLE please help !!!

With IOS 8.4.1 I had no problems.

So, yesterday Airdrop suddenly started to work between iPhone 6+ iOS 9 and 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 but today it stopped working.

Having a think about what might have been different, the only thing was I also have a 2008 MacBook Pro running Beta 10.11.1 (it's the oldest model of MBP capable of running El Capitan) on which I have Airdrop enabled via terminal command.

After an Airdrop between the iMac and MBP, Airdrop to/from iPhone and iMac suddenly seems to work.

My iOS 9 update is still preventing Airdrop from working, numerous restarts, reboots on both devices and it still doesn't work. Where the **** is Apple Support on this issue?!!

I just disabled a 'Network Traffic Filtering' option on my third party Anti-Virus Firewall protection and ta-da! AirDrop now works again.

OH NO ! You all won't believe me... yesterday night everything was ok just after I updated my iPhone... and this morning, Airdrop isn't working anymore this bug is driving me crazy ... but I can see in the console that my MacBook found my iPhone via Bluetooth :

    24/09/2015 06:26:43,779 sharingd[263]: 06:26:43.779 : BTLE discovered device with hash <01b34e30 f9000000 0000>

But it doesn't let me use Airdrop
