Q: iOS9 Airdrop to Mac not working

Trying to connect iPhone 6+ iOS9 to 2013 iMac OS X 10.10.5 via Airdrop but not showing up on iMac or iPhone, worked perfectly before iOS 9.

iPhone can Airdrop to another iPhone and iMac can Airdrop to another Mac, but not iPhone to/from Mac.

iOS update was originally done OTA and have reinstalled through iTunes.

Have tried all suggestions I have come across but still they won't connect.

Anyone have similar problems?

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 21.5 in 2.9GHZ i5 16 GB

Same problem. El Capitan osx 10.11(Macbook air 2014) and ios 9.0.2 (iphone 6 +) can not see each other in airdrop. It is really annoying. Has anyone fixed the problem? Please let me know. Appreciate!

    Hi.

    I have      1. iMac 27" i7               El Capitan 10.11.1 Beta (15B30a) cat5 with wifi on

                   2. iPhone 6                   9.0.2

                   3. Apple Watch             2.0

                   4. iPad (4thgen)          9.0.2

                   5. Mac mini                    El Capitan 10.11 cat 5 with wifi on

                   6. Macbook Air  (wife)        El Capitan 10.11

                   7. iPhone 5        (wife)       9.0.2

                   8. Fritzbox 7390 latest OS.

Airdrop only works from (1.) iMac to (4.) iPad (both ways)

I have restarted, switched through airdrop settings, rebooted all wifi and routers etc. I am in all the contact lists, iCloud etc.

    Still no joy!

    Cheers

You are using Beta software. Use the reporting tool you were provided with when you signed up for the Beta and report the issue. And remember you have an NDA and should not be posting here.

First of all, the beta is only on the iMac (and I HAVE reported that error there), not the air or the mini. Secondly, I can post this issue anywhere I please.

Hello, THANK YOU!  its works for me, just do this

    • Delete Bluetooth Preference File
      • Remove "com.Apple.Bluetooth.plist" at .../Library/Preferences. And then reboot system.

    Thank you!

Dear Apple, because no one has offered an answer to this i have had to resort to using Google Drive to transfer between phone and laptop. Airdrop doesn't work. Fix it, or just post an answer "we're working on it' Lie if have to. Any reply would be good.

Hola. What I managed to do, after stumbling on this issue (in regards to photos anyway)

From MacBook Pro (2011/OS X) to iPhone 6 (iOS9) dragging the picture icon over the Photos application on my Dock that way the picture(s) will be included in your PhotoStream (if you use it ).

To be quite honest, this maybe a ploy by Apple to push its consumer base to use their iCloud Drive nonsense (which I refuse, got enough problems dealing with two Apple IDs).

Hope this is helpful until Apple makes a fix

After updating my Macbook Air to El Capitan, I no longer am able to use Airdrop.

I followed almost all the troubleshooting found in the internet but to no avail.

Hey Scarluc, or to anyone else that has had success fixing AirDrop by deleting the "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" file and rebooting, did AirDrop work for you before you upgraded to El Capitan, or did you buy a new machine recently that shipped with El Capitan installed that was failing to AirDrop?  If it was a new machine, what model was it?  Just curious.

Hi, Yes it worked before. My mac is a MBA early 2014, the problem started when I changed my iphone 6 to a 6s. but airdrop always worked, in yosemite with ios 8, and ios 9, and worked with el capitan to, the problem started when I changed the phone. I closed the icloud session on all my devices, then deleted the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist, I restart the mac, and then login in icloud. It works for me.
