News App server not responding iPhone 4S

So the News App on iPhone 4S is not connecting to Apple's server and won't search and won't refresh any news content. Anyone else come across this today. It seemed to work on the iPad two days ago, but today while waiting for car service, I tried reading some News from Apple's taunted service, and it was broken. Didn't know if it was iPhone 4S related, Apple server related, or something that I was missing completely. The server status for News showed a green light while I was getting the server errors on my phone.

News is also not connecting to icloud to update across my devices. Nothing I saved on teh iPad is showing up on my phone at all. Seems typical.
