Q: Unable to install Windows 32 bit on my Mac. My Bootcamp version is 3.0.4. After Windows 7 is installed the screen goes bland and nopthing happens. Can anyone help. Detailedd instructions by e-mail to **********.com would very helpful - Thanks

Windows 7 Home Premium worked fine on my computer with the original Snow Leopard. When I tried to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10 the trouble began. I took the Mac to an Apple approved repair shop and they upgraded the software to bootcamp 64bit. Now when I install Windows 7 32 bit after installation the screen goes blank. I am a PC wise person and have little or no knowledge of Apple so any help would be greatly appreciated. An e-mail with detailed instructions would be very helpful to an old man who is desperate. Thank you in advance.

Been there done that - not much help. Need to know how to change the Bootcamp from a 64 bit to  32 bit before I can Bootcamp or whatever to recognise my 32bit Windows 7 program. Thanks for your response.

    1. What year/model is your Mac?

    2. Can you provide a bit more detail on what was exactly done

I took the Mac to an Apple approved repair shop and they upgraded the software to bootcamp 64bit. Now when I install Windows 7 32 bit after installation the screen goes blank.

    3. Bootcamp is part of the OSX software suite. It cannot be upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit. If the version of OSX was upgraded, what is it now. Your signature mentions Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Bootcamp drivers and Bootcamp Assistant are two different entires.

    4. Run Bootcamp Assistant and click on About. What is the version of BC Assistant?

    5. If the screen goes blank with your W32 program, it is more likely to be a Application issue, rather than Bootcamp issue. Are you able to run other programs when in Windows 7 Home Premium?

    6. Does your Mac Windows 10 requirements as stated in Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support . Look at the list of the hardware and compare it to answer in question 1.

Did you read the instructions there? Your answer is in the instructions.

Thank you Loner, for your response,

    1. My operating system is Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and the Bootcamp version is 3.0.4 (325). The model of my Apple Computer Model identifier is iMac10.1.

2  It was given to me on my 80th birthday by my daughters in 2010 so I think it must be at worst a 2010 model.

    3. I tried to install Windows 10 but realised too late that Apple had not as yet provided the drivers so after I removed windows 10 as I could not restore it to Windows 7 that was working fine.

    4. Took the computer to an Apple approved repair agency and they updated the software so I was told but they could not install the windows 7 32bit program that I gave them.

    4. They downloaded a Windows 7 64 bit and installed it but after working for a while suddenly without any reason I was unable to operate the keyboard and mouse.

    5. In the hopes that I could fix the problem I removed Windows 7 64 bit in the hopes that I could reinstall it.

    6. The program they gave me was a Windows 7HP64.dmg which the put on a CD but Bootcamp does not recognise this.

    7. So now I am in a quandry as to how to get this fixed.

    8. Bootcamp acknowledges the Windows

7 32 bit program but after it looks like the installation is complete, the screen on rebooting goes goes blank and I am unable to do anything .

Any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated. Incidentally I would prefer to use the 32 bit version as all my other software is 32 bit.

    Thanks

I did  but perhaps I am not understanding things too well as I am always relating things back to Microsoft and not thinking as an Apple person would. Whst I need is a detailed step by step method to correct my problem. Thanks for your assistance.

Your iMac10,1 is from 2009 as shown in How to identify iMac models - Apple Support. Your model does not support Windows 10.

Based on Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support, you can go to 64-bit Windows 7 at the most. There will be no W10 drivers for your specific model.

The Repair shop probably did not have W7 32-bit, so they gave you 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. The software application does not seem to have 64-bit drivers, but only has 32-bit drivers. You need to ask the repair shop to install 32-bit Windows 7 or find a W7 32-bit installer. You may also want to ask your daughters for some assistance if possible.
