Apple discovered a bug that made them determine not to release it. They will release it when they make an announcement. No one here would know before then.

They should have released a Public beta for watchOS 2. I would have gladly tested it. I reported several serious bugs in iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan. And that was a bit risky running a public beta on my main phone and Mac. I would have more easily ran a public beta on my Watch since its pretty slow and buggy to begin with ;-)

I had really hoped watchOS 2 would only be delayed a day or two, but its been over 48 hours and still nothing. I guess its better to wait for bug-free software, especially for non beta testers.

To my knowledge, I thought there was a Watch OS 2 beta, but I may be mistaken. Either way, waiting won't matter that much.

There was a Watch OS 2 Beta, however it was a developer only beta, not a public beta. I'm really disappointed that Apple hasn't given anything more than a vague answer of "we'll release it soon". Soon could be next week, next month, or next year...it would be nice to know.

Historically Apple has been vague on providing information about a lot of things. I don't believe, given the wording of the press release that it would be too long, unless fixing the bug has created more than they can handle in the short run.

I don't know if this post will last for long, however, I just emailed Apple with the following comment:

"Don't you think you owe us an update  as to when Watch OS2 will be available?

We spend thousands of dollars on Apple products and get treated like a pile of manure. Get with it and tell us something."

I would think releasing buggy software would be a much more egregious act than missing the scheduled release date.

Agreed! However, that doesn't exclude Apple giving us an update as to what is going on. I'm not complaining about them missing the scheduled release date, just their lack of informing their customers . From what I have experienced so far, Apple should have delayed their release of IOS 9 until they got rid of all of the bugs. I'm sure we will be getting IOS 9.1 soon.

What I was reading over the summer was that once the developer Beta was installed, there was no way to back it out without sending the Watch back to Apple. It's not surprising they didn't want an uncontrolled release of it.

No, they don't owe us an exact date. Based on your post, I'd also bet that, should they be so foolish as to do so, and didn't meet that date because the problem was more intractable than they thought, you'd be one of the people upset that they had failed to meet the deadline. You gave Apple money and they gave you products which included a warranty if the product is not working correctly. Nothing more is owed.

    Hi

    watchOS 2 is available now:

    - Ensure that your Apple Watch has at least a 50 percent charge.

    - Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi.

    - Keep your iPhone next to your Apple Watch to make sure they're in range.

    - Connect your Apple Watch to power, and keep it on the charger until the update is complete.

To download and install the update: on your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app and tap My Watch > General > Software Update - follow the instructions.
