since latest itunes update, ipod touch 6 not recognised

Came to connect my new ipod touch to itunes today to add some music for my holiday tomorrow to find that the device does not appear in itunes.

iPod is getting charged but just will not connect to sync. Ran through diagnostics but it just says ipod not connected.

Everything was fine a few days ago before update in itunes to 12.3

I have reset the pc, reset the ipod, uninstalled itunes and then re-installed it - all to no avail.

Anyone had this or can offer any different solutions please?

- First redownload iTunes 12.3 and when you click on it and the installer starts select Repair. That worked for my Win 10 installation

Next:

See

iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows

- I would start with

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

It also applies to Win 10

- Then do the other actions of:

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

paying special attention to item #5

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
