can you turn off the mandatory photo albums in iPhoto?

Every update seems to add another set of mandatory albums in iPhoto. Is there a way to get rid of "selfies" and "panoramas" and "screenshots" etc... so that I could actually look at MY PHOTOS?? On full screen of albums APPLE created without my permission before I can get to the photo albums I created... just a poor design. Can it be bypassed?
