No sound from 7th generation iPod nano

I have no sound on the iPod nano 7th generation I recently purchased. I was sent a replacement and this has no sound either. I followed the apple troubleshooting for both and still no sound. There appears to be serious issues with this device and see others in the community have experienced the same in the past. Is anyone else experiencing issues currently?
