Oct 17, 2015 11:27 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Monarke4,I also just registered a complaint. This is just like Apple, to h*ll with backward compatibility. This is why something as simple as a floppy disk written on a OS7 Mac and prior can't be read on a later machine.

Oct 17, 2015 11:50 PM in response to Naresh Aryaby Monarke4,I tried it and it still claims that it cannot sync notes as the iphone was disconnected.

Oct 23, 2015 5:19 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Monarke4,I've just downloaded and installed Itunes 12.3.1.23 as well as iOS 9.1 and now instead of the error concerning the back-up of notes causing the Iphone disconnect is now gone and notes are still not backed up. Apparently it now ignores notes completely.
Thanks Apple!

Oct 23, 2015 1:22 PM in response to Monarke4by dr_jon,It's scary how quickly Apple went from Steve Jobs having them be business-friendly to going back to only supporting consumer uses for their phones. It's also spectacularly annoying... :-(

Oct 23, 2015 3:32 PM in response to dr_jonby Monarke4,Apple has never been one for complete backward compatibility. They've changed the disk format how many times over the years? I have software on floppy disk for apple which can't be read on a mac box because of it's format.
At least with a PC I know that it will read a floppy diskette with the correct drive installed whether it's 300K, 600K, 1.2mb, 1.44mb etc.

Oct 24, 2015 2:19 PM in response to GromPilotby tmac238,I believe this is an iTunes issue and not related to selection of the format. I did NOT opt to change the notes format - the option is still available at the IOS9.1 device. iTunes has no sync options for notes in iTunes 12

Oct 25, 2015 4:32 AM in response to Monarke4by pepeidolioquintanilla,In a way, I agree with you...
do you remember when suddenly the DVD drive was removed and only USB was available in Mac?. They were the first ones to do it.
Now, they decided to "improve" the notes with new more complex format (they alone, because they're the best in the world...at least is what they think).
Outlook cannot content up to now these formats, so sync is not possible for all formats.
The problem is that maybe Notes is very relevant for you (the case of many business people), when you have many past notes which are relevant for you.
Any solution could be possile? - yes, to put an advertise to indicate that only past format notes would be sync with outlook...and then continue with sync.
But no...Apple God knows what is best for you and you simply have to follow. They don't care of you, they care of their products, to be fluid and gently to use. This is, they products are "beautifull" but they don't really care of their functionality or your professional use.
It is their approach since the beginning...
In other words...Apple is for common people and beautiful things...not for professionals (except for designer...for whom the "beauty" is their job).
It depends to you...do you wish something beautifull, prone to change without notice and posh, but not robust as you may loose relevant data without any worries for them....or you want something not so beautifull but more "secure"....if so...go to Android.
(Yes, I know the viruses...but with Apple your work is in danger not because of viruses...but because of Apple itself......for professional users....this is DRAMATIC...).
And yes...maybe they were right to remove DVD and to put only USB...but please, have in consideration users necessities and offer an option for the transition. It is different for "regular" users and for "professional" users. In all...you may realize that Appler is NOT for professional use in general.

Oct 25, 2015 4:49 AM in response to pepeidolioquintanillaby Monarke4,That's just it, it's not all art.... I could go to an Android yes, but I have valuable apps/software which only Itunes hosts.
My Peterson Electromusical Tuning software (Istrobosoft) is available no where else. This is a tool I use in my business almost every day.
Audio Tools which has many things used in the sound industry and fits my business.
WavePad which is used to record sound. A toy maybe but also useful for my business.
Work Log Time Card Software
So you see, these are a few but there are many things which are not just toys, but useful business products.

Oct 25, 2015 8:14 AM in response to Monarke4by pepeidolioquintanilla,Yes, but for an executive don't talk about Audio Tools or wave pad.
anyway, everybody do what he wants...
But a company that puts in front the slavery to users in front of their needs...not a good deal (for user...).

Oct 25, 2015 2:34 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby NFH.,After upgrading to iOS 9, I could still sync Notes between Outlook and my iPhone using iTunes 12.3.0.44, even though the tick box for syncing Notes was missing in iTunes 12.3.0.44. It was still working after upgrading to iOS 9.1, which was released on Wednesday 21st October 2015.
However, since iTunes was upgraded to version 12.3.1.23 on Friday 23rd October 2015, my Notes are no longer synced. I tried doing a System Restore on my Windows laptop in order to roll back to iTunes 12.3.0.44, but my Notes still won't sync. The impression I get is that the tick box in iTunes 12.3.0.44 was just hidden in that the setting was still there, but that iTunes 12.3.1.23 has unticked it and because the tick box is no longer visible, there's no way to tick it again. I'm wondering whether there's a registry setting that can turn Notes syncing back on again. Any ideas?

Oct 26, 2015 5:59 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby H Gagne,Posted about this issue a while back:
iOS 9, iTunes 12.3: Local Sync of MS Outlook Notes Gone
Here's what I have noticed:
1) If your device is running IOS8.x, the "Sync Notes /w Outlook" option is visible on the device INFO page. I have confirmed this on iTunes (Win64) 12.3.1.23 by verifying the INFO *prior* to upgrading a device to IOS 9.x
2) IOS 9.0.x continued to sync Outlook notes even though the "Sync Notes /w Outlook" option was not longer visible on the device INFO page. Updating to IOS 9.1 however, removes syncing with Outlook notes.
3) IOS 9.0.x continued to sync Outlook notes even though the "Sync Notes /w Outlook" option was not longer visible on the device INFO page with pre-iTunes 12.3.0.44. Updating to iTunes 12.3.1.23 however, removes syncing with Outlook notes.
In short, updating iTunes to the latest version or updating to IOS 9.1 effectively eliminates any possibility of syncing Outlook notes. I would understand if I had chosen to upgrade Notes on the device (iPhone/iPad) but I have not. This is reminiscent of when Apple did away with syncing of Tasks (aka Reminders).
IMHO, the "Sync Notes /w Outlook" option should have remained visible until such a time as a user chooses to "Upgrade Notes" on their device. As for trying to enable the sync Outlook Notes features, I suspect the option is stashed away in the either the device configuration database and/or the iTunes (.ITB) database.
Ideally, an iTunes plugin/add-on should have been provided to allow Outlook users to Sync not only Calendars and Contacts, but Notes and Tasks as well - i.e. like it used to do a long time ago.

Oct 26, 2015 6:12 PM in response to H Gagneby Monarke4,Here is something else I noticed and I don't know if something is unchecked in Itunes or my Iphone.
Seems now when I choose to run app updates from my phone they are not reflected in Itunes after a sync. The progress bar shows "updating app" but when I look at the updates tab it's still there.
It seems the product continues to do LESS than it did before.

Oct 26, 2015 6:25 PM in response to H Gagneby jcommerce,I am running iOS9.1 (13B143) and iTunes 12.3.0.44. I did not choose the Upgrade option in Notes on the iPhone. My Outlook/iOS Notes sync continues to work in both directions. Based on your experience, I will postpone updating iTunes to 12.3.1 as long as possible. Thank you for the heads up.
