Sep 23, 2015 8:24 AM in response to bsalassiby Jboggie,So, how do I revert to the previous version of Note?
-
Sep 23, 2015 8:46 AM in response to bsalassiby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,Well it wasn't/isn't working on mine - I kept getting errors says "The iPhone disconnected unexpectedly" during Notes sync. Now I've upgraded to the new notes format (and there was NO warning this would stop Outlook sync) and I appear to be stuffed. Apple needs to re-instate this the way it was before - it used to work, now it doesn't.

Sep 23, 2015 10:05 AM in response to golfgrouchby canford,I did a similar thing by deleting a couple of Notes in my Outlook, and updating the contents of other notes. Then I synchronized. My iPhone notes did not pick up the changes. So the second synchronization is not working between iPhone and Outlook.
I am tempted to back up my iPhone, then delete all of its notes, then try again (backing up my Outlook in advance as well).

Sep 23, 2015 10:14 AM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby canford,I spoke too soon. My first synchronization brought my Outlook 2010 notes to my iPhone 4s. (Yaay) Then I did some maintenance on my Outlook notes, deleting a couple of notes and updating the contents of some other notes. Then I synchronized again this morning. The changes to my Outlook notes did not get synchronized to my iPhone. The earlier notes are still there, but not the changes.
I am tempted to back up my iPhone and my PC's Outlook, then delete all the notes off my iPhone, then try to synchronize again.

Sep 23, 2015 1:17 PM in response to bsalassiby Kedavis,I just tried updating a Note and it failed. I never upgraded Notes on my iPhone 5s so my original text Notes are still there. I am using iOS 9, Windows 7, and Outlook 2007. Prior to iOS 9 everything worked beautifully. So when someone who had not upgraded Notes said it still synced, I tried it myself. No luck. As I say, the original Notes are there but when I change them in Outlook it does not replicate on my iPhone.
I also have no option either in iTunes on on the iPhone settings to sync the Notes. On the iPhone my choices are "iCloud" or "on my phone."
Of course when I get my new iPhone 6s Plus on Friday, none of the Notes will be there, so I will have to copy and paste them into a document and sync manually every time I make a change.
As I said before, this is very unfortunate and takes away a feature I use every single day.

Sep 23, 2015 1:44 PM in response to Kedavisby canford,I need to clarify my original posting too.
I have Outlook 2010, iPhone 4s, iOS9, and (perhaps unfortunately) the "updated" Notes. I clicked to update notes after my first synchronization following installation of iOS9. I did this because all of my notes were missing. Then I still did not get my Outlook notes onto my iPhone.
I now have iTunes 12.0.3.44, which was installed after I moved the iPhone to iOS9.
I went to Apple Chat, and they led me through a synchronization after checking my Settings>Notes and finding that
My "Default Account for Siri" pointed to the iPhone account where my Outlook-based email resides
"New Notes Start With" Title
and a greyed-out dialogue says "From My PC" Account and the button is on
While Apple was chatting with me, I synchronized the iPhone with my Windows 7 PC and the Outlook Notes went to my iPhone
But when I did some maintenance to my Outlook Notes and synchronized again this morning, the changes did not appear on my iPhone.
I think I will try backing up both iPhone and my PC's Outlook, deleting the iPhone notes, and resynchronizing. If that doesn't bring the updated Outlook Notes to my iPhone, I can at least revert to the backup!

Sep 23, 2015 2:10 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby Jboggie,** ITUNES/ IPHONE SYNC ISSUE WITH OUTLOOK NOTES AFTER IOS9 UPDATE (SOLVED) **
I lost a lot of sleep trying all types of recommendations on the web and on this forum with no results!
THE STEPS BELOW WORKED FOR ME:
1. Close outlook and create a new PST in Mail 32 bit from the control panel.
2. Open oulook and transfer your notes from your default notes you to the (new) PST notes.
3. Sync your iPhone to iTunes, ensure all notes on your iPhone has been deleted.
4. Power down and restart your iPhone.
5. Move your notes from the (new) PST notes back to your default notes in outlook.
6. Sync iPhone via ITunes and presto you're back in business.
7. Do a couple of checks by adding and deleting notes from both OS and resyncing to ensure stability.
8. Thank me later. Yours truly, an Average Joe.

Sep 23, 2015 2:40 PM in response to canfordby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,A PST file is the file that Outlook stores all its data in if you're not using an Exchange email account.

Sep 23, 2015 2:56 PM in response to Phil_from_Gideon-ITby canford,Oh gosh, I didn't think of the file extension. Of course I know where my Outlook is saved. Thank you for your patient answer.

Sep 23, 2015 2:58 PM in response to Jboggieby canford,Alternatively, can't we just ensure we back up our Outlook .pst file, then delete all the notes from Outlook, Delete any iPhone notes, synchronize, and then restore your Outlook file to the pst file that has the notes in it?

Sep 23, 2015 3:01 PM in response to Jboggieby Phil_from_Gideon-IT,I'd love to thank you....I really REALLY would but sadly this didn't work for me.
When iTunes is showing the various stages of the sync in the information panel at the top do you see a notice about syncing Notes? I don't.
I've just upgraded to iOS 9.0.1 in the hope this would be one of the fixes but sadly no.
