https://secure.img-cdn.mediaplex.com Keeps Popping Up

A pop up tab keeps showing up on my macbook pro, when using safari. It reads https://secure.img-cdn.mediaplex.com and it says "undefined." I've noticed that its making my computer fairly slow when I'm on the internet. I've deleted all of my safari extensions and I have restarted it multiple times. I'm not sure how to get rid of this, or what it even is?

From what I'm hearing about this online, it sounds like it may be a temporary problem with some of the ads being served up on Google-owned pages (such as YouTube). Is anyone having the problem on a page that is not owned by Google?

Edit: Also, can someone having the problem upload a screenshot of the problem?

That looks like it's probably due to an error in the JavaScript being loaded by one of the ads.

I cannot duplicate this here, using the same site and same search criteria, even after reloading numerous times (to get different ads) and making sure to load the Flash content in any Flash-based ads. This means it may be a regional thing, or related to an ad that is being specifically targeted to you and not to me, or it may be fixed now.

If it's continuing to happen, I'd recommend choosing Clear History and Website Data from the Safari menu. If that doesn't solve it for you, an ad blocker might be called for. AdBlock is a popular one.

I think you're right. I realize these are Apple Forums (I have a MBA as well but my issue is on a WIn PC using FF 40.0.3 or 41.0). Since the URL includes "cdn", perhaps this is geography-specific, i.e. Canadian IP addresses only? I could try using a proxy to see if it still occurs, to narrow down the issue, since you are not seeing the problem.

I use a Firefox add-on called Strict Pop-Up Blocker on Win 7 and it does not prevent the mediaplex msg from appearing. A temporary fix is to delete all mediaplex.com cookies, as well as run a scan in SuperAntiSpyware (freeware), then it seems good until, like others, I go to YouTube and voila! it rears its ugly head again.

I guess the issue is to find out who the culprit is and contact their tech support for a fix.
