Can I remove "back to app" feature on iOS 9?
I Hate when I go from facebook to messenger and then in upper left corner says " back to facebook". Can I turn it off somehow??
iPhone 4S, iOS 9, null

I would love an answer to this as well. This was a terribly implemented feature. I use test mode on my phone tons and now this blocks the signal reading.
No response to this yet? Really sick of that stupid little "button" blocking my signal strength indicator. I don't like using LTE data if I don't have to and the "back to app" button constantly forces me to skip to the home screen to check if I'm on WiFi or LTE which is a pain in the ***.
Come on Apple, just admit the "back to app" thing was an after-thought that you just slapped on because Android has a better version of that functionality. Either rework it so it's actually useful or let me turn that "feature" off.
Something additionally annoying about this that I have noticed since my first reply is that all of the links that I open into Chrome from my gmail app now stay open. They used to close when I was done reading and hit the back to gmail that was built into chrome. This was great because there was no need for the tab to stay open and take up system resources. Now I end up with chrome having 20+ tabs open that I have to constantly close myself.
This bothers me as well, as it blocks the signal strength indicator for Mobile Network and Wifi. A quick workaround is to slide down your "Notification Centre"... This will provide you with that information when it is being blocked by "Back to..." shortcuts.
Hopefully Apple will make this an option and not a mandatory thing soon within their settings.
Is there a way to make a report to apple About this? It is annoying. Or make it an option and toggle it off if you want. what a surprise there is no solution or even an answer to this.
This a community support forum. Apple does not address issues presented in this forum. Yes, you can "report" this feature/bug via the Feedback page (http://www.apple.com/feedback) and please do! We need numberous feedback reports before this feature is even considered for revision. I just submitted feedback on it. It completely blocks out the numeric signal strengths when in Field Test Mode. This will not do!
I Love this feature. Allows me to move back and forth with ease.
For this very reason it should be a feature that can be toggled on/off as desired. It's not inherently bad, just poorly implemented as forced always on.
I was wondering the same thing, except I want to know how to turn it off completely, I generally try to use as little apps as possible and its annoying when Im using a browser and it automatically opens up an app instead of just going to the webpage.
I Have the same annoyance. I've looked at other forums which agree that the only way to even temporarily remove this "back to" button or the "bread crumb" feature as some call it, is to jailbreak your device in order to download a specific app that allows you to hide the button by swiping left. Other than that, I have found no other solutions.
well at least do not hide wifi status
Sooooooo I figured out how to get rid of the back to function temporarily. But for those of you trying to display the signal strength it still doesn't work😟
Simply swipe up, open calculator then hit back to "whatever" (field test in my case) then it disappears.
Toodle-oo
Where do we place our complaints? I can't deal with this much longer! ;( I searched through my ENTIRE Settings and still found nothing, there needs to at least be an option to disable/enable.
COME ON APPLE!
