installing the sims2?

Hi, I recently just got the Sims2, I'm trying to install it but it says I need 1mb and i need to free up space on my local disk and relaunch it. I have 14.4 gb free on my macbook hard drive. What do I need to do?

macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.3), it's brand new

When you open up the DVD window, you need to drag The Sims 2 to your hard drive (such as your application folder) to install it. Opening The Sims 2 directly from the DVD won't do anything, except give you that error message. Once you copy it to your hard drive, double-click it, and it will set up a couple things... then you can start playing!
