Q: All I want is a response from apple/Slide to upgrade

I have an iPad 3rd gen.  I too have experienced the "slide to upgrade" defeat.  I have followed the instructions to restore backup, but as many other users are reporting my "find iPad" feature is active thus rendering the restore useless.  As many forums are loaded with these concerns I feel it is established that a large number of users are facing this issue (whether Apple thinks it is a small number or not).  So I wish to a add a few extra details I have not seen reported.

Established:

Slide to upgrade freeze is impacting users

Apple's fix is to restore to backup (doesn't work with iCloud updates and I have not found info that suggests it works at all)

Another fix may be to revert to factory and lose stored data (haven't seen posts that this works either)

Not reported by other users:

Just prior to "slide to upgrade" frozen screen iPad states:

"Update Completed

Your iPad was updated successfully.  There are just a

few more steps to follow, and then you're done!

Continue"

At this stage the iPad is connected to wifi and I was able to screen shot this image using the iPad's camera (quick power/home click).  If I continue the result is the frozen slide to upgrade page; with a hard restart I can repeat all these steps.  I also briefly see my lock screen.  After capturing the image of the above page I went to see if it transferred via the cloud to my iPhone and Mac and IT HAS!  From the "Update Completed" screen I am able to connect to my Mac and see my iPad contents.  I have not repeated a backup and I am not able to restore to a backup (find iPad on).  This leads me to believe that in fact the upgrade was successful.  The iPad is able to connect to wifi and iCloud.

ALL I WANT IS FOR APPLE TO RESPOND THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A SOLUTION.  It seems that the iPad is fine it just can't move forward from the continue screen.

I am extremely frustrated.  I am not willing to lose my data.  I have a backup of my iPad stored on my Mac (completed just prior to updating), but I am not seeing users report that they are having success.  I have several iDevices and right now regret the purchase of all of them.  Over $10,000 worth of purchases and I have to pay $29.00 to contact Apple to likely get told what is being posted.  What kind of customer service is Apple offering right now...just tell the loyal fan base that you are working on it!

Now I am begging!

You are not addressing Apple here. This is a user to user support forum. Apple's response is here. If the Slide to Upgrade screen won't go away after you update to iOS 9 - Apple Support  You would not normally see Apple reporting anything further, even if they are working on something. That is just not the way they do it. And before you start, don't get mad at me, I'm just sharing information. And begging is not necessary.

It seems to me that when I updated my devices, I hesitated prior to tapping on continue, and I never saw this Slide to Upgrade screen. It may be that if you do this too soon, it is locking the device.

If you want to share information with Apple, use their feedback page, http://www.apple.com/feedback and click on the appropriate subject area.

    Thank you,

Of course I know that I am not addressing Apple.  As I stated I have tried Apple's solution.  I am providing more information to the community before they all revert to factory settings.

And as you stated that is just not how Apple does things so apparently begging is necessary.  Let me suggest that if you cannot add to the discussion that users are struggling with perhaps you should not reply.

I read that perhaps up to 160 million devices were affected, as I have left my iPad on the continue screen for hours in order to maintain a wifi/iCloud connection I am certain that hesitating if not my issue, but thanks!

Well, thank you very much for the opportunity to respond to you. It seems to me when you post how you are expecting a lot of things from Apple that it seems as though your post was addressed to them. Begging for anything on this forum will not get you anything or anywhere. I'm sorry you were having trouble with your device, I was just sharing what did when I updated my device and the fact that it and my iPhone 5s both updated flawlessly. Have a nice day.
