iPod won't charge

My Ipod touch 5 generation (16gb) not sure of the operating system has been flat for a little while (less than a month) however it s not charging, the charging symbol thing is on however it s not actually doing anything, I ve done the home and lock button for 30 seconds, tried another cable, another plug, another socket and in my laptop but iTunes won't pick it up and the charger symbol is flashing but it won't turn on

If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G or later iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- If a 5G ot later iPod

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
