no NON-Universal binary program will run

Question

no NON-Universal binary program will run

So after loading itunes 7.0.2 for my new shuffle, my non universal binary programs will run. not sure where to put this questions. When you go to run the program it will bounce once in the dock and won't open. Universal binary programs work fine.

Steps I have taken
1. reloaded a program so see if it would work
2. repaired disk
3. repaired permissions
4. created separate user and ran program under that user
5. Reset the PRAM
6. tried something called update pre-bindings, but this wouldn't work.

does anyone have any ideas

Mac Mini (intel), Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Go to http://search.info.apple.com/ and do a search for rosetta.

I have been doing a search of fixing rosetta for quite sometime, yet to come across a solution this this, nor have I come across a way to reinstall or repair rosetta

Did you use Monolingual to remove additional languages? This can sometimes also remove architecture codes.

A solution can be to do an Archive & Install from the Installation Disc.

humm yes I did actually, didn't think of that.

Does the Archive and install restore all data and applications?

Sorry, I can't help with the rosetta not working problem, except to suggest reinstalling the latest combo update available for Intel-based Macs and your machine. I don't own one.

Archive and install installs a new System Folder next to your old System Folder, with your old User settings. For more details, please look at this KBase article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301270

Afterwards, you should reinstall third party applications. In the installation dialogs, you can choose which languages you want to install.
