Q: i have a pop up on my ipod touch 5 saying there is a virus.
i was on my ipod touch safari and i accidentally clicked an add on the side of the screen and then it tried to redirect me and i got a pop up saying there is a virus on my ipod. safari will not work. i called the tech support number on the bottom and i was told i needed to provide a credit card and will be charged $59 to get this fixed by a tech. i didnt not provide any of this to them, one because i dont want to pay that much without attempting to fix it myself and second because maybe that pop up is a scam and people want my credit card info. the number they gave me is 1-877-898-8495. is this a legit number? my ipod is not/never was jailbroken. will restoring my ipod to an earlier backup date fix this? or should i totally reinstall everything from scratch and no use any of my backups? or do i need to pay this $59? its ios 8.3
iPod touch, iOS 8.2
