Shaded area at bottom of iphone 5s screen after iOS 9.0 upgrade

I just updated my iphone 5s with the new iOS 9.0 and after the update there is now, at the bottom of my screen, a bunch of lines that create a shading affect about a 1/10th of the screens area. It is there for all activities and I want to get rid of it.
