Oct 1, 2015 6:13 PM in response to Jagspecialby theburna,Tried to connect to the online chat support Tuesday morning. For 2 hours it kept telling me it would connect in 2 minutes.
Perhaps Apple are scared to face the fact that the apple is in fact a lemon?!
So I dropped in to the Apple Store to talk to a "GENIUS" What a misquoted skill set these people have.
They rebooted the phone a voila. Its fixed like by magic. It played up again within the hour. Again I reiterate "What a misquoted skill set these people have"
They also tried to blame all the "NON-APPLE" apps. Does this include Mail, Safari, Message, Settings and ITunes Store or just other sources like my bank and Facetime? Because all do the same.
Tried all the fixes yesterday on my day off...wasted 7 hours to accomplish nothing. Still have issues where when I select any app the screen goes blank. I've learned to leave the app open and hit the home button and reselect the app.
They call it an intermittent issue. Also known as " I don't give a f___ because it doesn't effect me"

Oct 2, 2015 12:07 AM in response to Jagspecialby iWufei,Same problem here after I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 9.x. Generally there has been many problems with stability after this update. Frequently an app or the phone crashes and restarts itself. I have now restored my phone two times!!

Oct 2, 2015 12:11 AM in response to UK10EDDYby winmacios,i've had this problem repeatedly, almost since day one with Io9. i've been through all the troubleshooting steps with multiple Apple technicians. I even tried the advice from a few pages back to change the display mode from zoomed to standard. I liked the zoomed mode but I was willing to make sacrifices to make it work. I also wondered about my headsets as well, as I use both are wired and a Bluetooth set of earbuds
The black screens on Apple launches were happening like crazy tonight. Every time I fully quit an app and relaunched I was getting black screens.
without rebooting my phone I decided to turn off auto brightness. for me that fixed the problem.

Oct 2, 2015 6:26 AM in response to Jagspecialby cnorman18,I never had this problem on my iPhone 6 till I updated to iOS 9.0.2! EXTREMELY annoying. Apple better fix this SOONEST. It's giving the company a huge black eye. Isn't appearing on my wife's 6; and just for the record, I haven't turned on Bluetooth since updating. THIS IS APPLE'S FAULT. THEY NEED TO FIX IT.... NOW!

Oct 2, 2015 10:23 AM in response to Bepashby flyhard,Now I managed to get the black screen again after two whole days without it since updateing to 9.0.2
Been doing voice calls with Apple's wire headset and two different BlueTooth devices. Both receiving and calling via voice control and manual screen-dial. Been using lots of apps frequently. All this with no black screen at all.
But NOW, converting an ordinary voice call to FaceTime via the FaceTime key on the screen while having an ordianry cell network call, it started again When opening apps...

Oct 2, 2015 12:41 PM in response to Jagspecialby Dynagix,This issue started for me today. I updated to iOS 9.0.2 yesterday. As stated before in this thread, the screen is on, just goes black until I push the home button. Took a screenshot, and it's the black screen. I thought iOS 9 was supposed to be about stability? Oh well, at least the shuffle button is back.

Oct 2, 2015 2:57 PM in response to theburnaby saunderscc,Thought I would share my discussion with senior support at Apple. Engineering is aware of the problem. Software update likely the only fix. We went through a variety of the ways it happens (or doesn't) and captured some diagnostic logs to forward to engineering. He advised commenting at www.apple.com/feedback has that is generally a quicker route to highlight and prioritize problems than are the forums. Headed off to leave feedback now.

I left the following feedback:
"I and a sizable number of others (as evidenced in support forums and elsewhere) are experiencing an issue where iPhone screens go black when apps are opened (mostly when they are not running in the background) from a completely closed state. The screen is not off as notifications can be swiped from the top, bottom swipe yields the settings, and double tapping the home button brings the black area down. Pressing the home button and going back to the app results in the app functioning as normal. This occurs with all apps, including Settings and a variety of others. If the app is fully closed (not running in the background) it will then result in the black screen when opened the next time. Nothing, restores and hard resets, solves this problem permanently. Please address in 9.0.3."

Oct 2, 2015 5:39 PM in response to PHKLMby musicrepairs,Same here Exact same problem.
Apple were the leaders in mobile software for mobile devices and computers,
now I fear there updates.
It ***** when you pay $1K plus for a phone only to have software kill it.
