Oct 7, 2015 10:28 AM in response to Jagspecialby buzzlightyr,Hi folks,
Like many here my phone had the same problem (iPhone 6). I can confirm that the problem goes away temporarily after a soft reset, but will return within hours to a day or two. I was unable to convince myself that using my Bluetooth headset or making a call triggered the problem to recur, but it would always recur at some point.
A few people mentioned setting the display to "zoom" and then back again. I tried this a few days ago, and the problem has not returned since. Not sure how long it will last. There have also been a large number of app updates since then, so perhaps some offending app was fixed.
Stay tuned - hope a clear fix for this comes soon. It's difficult to accept that a bug like this could persist through two iOS updates and for as long as it has.

Oct 7, 2015 12:25 PM in response to Jagspecialby Matt20v,Hi Guys
Sorry so I managed to find a work around now and tested the last two days and its fine, Someone pointed out that this was related to Siri how the **** this makes sense I have no idea..
But I did this, After I went from my 6 to 6s there is a bug in the way it restores and half your apps do not get restored and you manually have to delete and download them.. I then found some of my settings also did not go back to how they where one of them being Siri she was turned off completely
I turned Siri back on to how it was before restarted the phone and now I have not seen the black screen on any app ..
If you already have Siri on maybe try turn it off restart then turn it back on and see how it goes..
Hope this helps others!
Cheers Matt

Oct 7, 2015 4:47 PM in response to dstagianby Mahabeer,I have the same problem ever since I upgraded to ios 9+. It resolved for some days after rebooting using the home and power button but it returned back. It's very annoying.

Oct 7, 2015 11:07 PM in response to Mahabeerby flyhard,OK, like someone earlier in this thread found out: I get the black screen only after using voice control. Using the zoomed text option for a quick graphic reboot cures it. And using voice control again, it starts all over with the black screen.
noticable is that just after getting the voice control screen info, the graphics often gets screwed up with both PIN keypad, notifications and background picture all at once - 1990ies windows feeling
and yes, the voice control is an essential safety feature when driving... Apples car project starts here imo!

Oct 8, 2015 2:03 AM in response to buzzlightyrby Hausen1976,Hi Folks,
yesterday I gave the hint of buzzlightyr (and of others before) a try (switching on and off display zoom) and so far I can report that the problem did not re-occur, even after a reset and using voice control (NOT siri) again afterwards with bluetooth connection to my handsfree kit and also without bluetooth connection.
I have to emphasize that there seems to be some misunderstanding regarding the procedure, as e.g. flyhard is talking about using zoomed text, which seems to be the wrong approach. What helped for me so far is:
- go to settings --> Display & Brightness --> "Display Zoom - View" and select "Zoomed" on top of the screen.
- select "Set" in the top right corner
- select "Use Zoomed" on bottom of the screen
- select "Standard" again on top of the screen and "Set" again in the top right corner
- select "Use Standard" at the bottom of the screen, done.
As mentioned before, that solved the problem for me (so far) since yesterday, although I've also done a reset afterwards and placed voice calls via voice control AFTER the reset...
I will observe and report whether the problem re-occurs.
So everybody having the problem please give this approach a chance (if you haven't tried it yet) and report whether you've been successful...
good luck and regards
Jan

Oct 8, 2015 2:07 AM in response to Jagspecialby c12ack,iOS 9 is a POS! Phone freezes so often on almost every app. Whether for business or when my kids use it. And those saying to reset or hard reset or change settings. You're just masking the problem. never had a problem with iOS 8. Why should I have to reset 3-4x day or more? Apple better get their heads out of the gutter And come up with a solution.

Oct 8, 2015 4:41 AM in response to Hausen1976by Hausen1976,Sorry folks,
just forget about my previous post, the problem re-occured...
...but what I have observed is that the problem occurs only after doing a call via voice command from the locked screen... afterwards the screen gets messed up in some way (overlay of dialpad and lock screen etc as described in a post before). When you do a call via voice command with the phone /screen unlocked before pressing and holding the home button, the black screen issue doesn't occur (for me).
Thinking about that I remember that I had issues using voice commands from the locked screen already under iOS 8 (and maybe 7 (?))... It was not the "black screen problem", but also the screen got messed up similar as described before, sometimes irresponsive and only a reset halped to solve the issue... any comments on that?
regards Jan

Oct 8, 2015 1:23 PM in response to Jagspecialby tjzimman,Add me to the list. New 5S, worked for 3 days, now the black screen only fixed with the home button and retry to open the app which fixes it for a minute or day.
Just like all the others...

Oct 8, 2015 1:38 PM in response to Jagspecialby timbooo,The minute I updated to IOS 9.0.2 on my 4S it went blank, and continues to do so every time I open apps. I have to close them sevewrl times and retry until I'm lucky.
Totally annoying thank god I have not updated my IPAD.
Rang apple who said do factory reset, which i really cant see working. the only fix is to get rid of 9.0.2 or throw my phone away or live with it. All useless options until another update is released.
