Oct 8, 2015 1:51 PM in response to Hausen1976by teddlicious,Hi Jan,
I tried to do this while reading your comment. Bizarre, because when I tapped use zoomed, my screen turned black again. The same story when I switched to standard. I'm curious if this is working! I will let you know!

Oct 8, 2015 3:17 PM in response to Jagspecialby siegehay,Same issue on new iPhone 6S. Seems to occur following Bluetooth use whether headset or car. Hard reboot fixes issue at least temporarily.
Just switched from android for the first time, not a great start though. Come on Apple, 21k people viewed this thread at least post a response acknowledging the issue and that you're working on a fix.

Oct 8, 2015 5:22 PM in response to Jagspecialby buzzlightyr,I can confirm that the problem clears after a soft reset or change in display zoom option, but recurs after using a Bluetooth headset and a Siri voice command to make a call.
a time time Apple figures this one out.

Oct 9, 2015 12:23 AM in response to timboooby Caltor,Factory reset?!?! I can't believe that was their advice. C'mon Apple! That is just another way of saying "I have no idea how to fix this" but will get rid of the user for a while and hopefully someone else will get them next time. I expect that sort of thing with Android and Windows but I have just moved to Apple as I thought were better than that. Please release an update that sorts this out and stop messing us all about.

Oct 9, 2015 2:22 AM in response to Caltorby dstagian, well, it's been a long 20 days period, with not a single reply from Apple... This is turning to a HUGE issue!
I drive a motorcycle more than a few hours a day, and using blue-tooth & vice commands via my helmet headset is the only way to stay safe and available to incoming calls. Same for all drivers and voice command users. This feature (with outstanding performance) is one of the basic reasons i've fallen for iPhone!
The iOS 9 issue has practically put the phone out of order, causing problems to my day-to-day activities (availability, contact with clients etc). I now own a i-PHONE device with apps and crazy features that cannot perform calls without having the iOS collapsing.
About the issue:
- it comes up following a voice dial [even without the intercom, by using directly the device].
- It doesn't matter if the blue tooth is turned on/off, if the WiFi is on etc,
- it doesn't matter if the call was answered or dropped,
- It affects all apps that were not already running in the background before the call,
- The only "solution" after that, is to restart the phone
COME ON GUYS!!!!! Stop ignoring such an issue...

Oct 9, 2015 6:12 AM in response to Matt20vby eac627,I restored my old iPhone 5s backup to my new iPhone 6s and had the same issue. Based on this suggestion I went into settings->general->siri and found that it was off. I turned it on (and also turned on "Hey Siri"). I have not had the problem in 2 days.

Oct 9, 2015 7:00 AM in response to dstagianby TRULADY87,I agree I not only use a bluetooth headset at home, and I have a bluetooth capable car system and I really don't even want to use my phone at this point.
APPLE please help fast!

Oct 9, 2015 7:00 AM in response to dstagianby csupinski,I noticed that when my Bluetooth adapter in my car connected to my phone this morning the problem started right away. I went into airplane mode and shut off location services and the problem stopped. Does anyone want to see if this happens for them as well?

Oct 9, 2015 10:40 AM in response to Jagspecialby AmateurElemental,I have noticed fewer screen blackening incidents since upgrading to 9.0.2, but it does seem to recur associated with phone activity. I have not traced it to bluetooth calls when the screen is locked as others have. I have noticed one fairly consistent behavior on my phone. If I'm in the home screen and I swipe left, where SIRI SUGGESTION and SEARCH and NEARBY show up, when I go back to home and launch an app I will get the black screen. Since Saturday (6 days ago) until yesterday, it always happened, but I just tried it again and no problem, no black screen. I'm glad it has gotten better, but it still is an issue. I have found that restarting it from the first occurrence of the black screen seems to help more, meaning the black screen seems to stay away longer.
Good luck to you all. With you, I hope this is fixed soon.

Oct 9, 2015 4:45 PM in response to Jagspecialby richiefrombondi beach,I did this and it worked (didn't need to do the last bit of reloading the apps)
- We were able to fix this bug by simply enabling Siri. If Siri is disabled, go to Settings > General > Siri and turn Siri on.
- Tap Settings then Display & Brightness then change Display Zoom View from “Standard” to “Zoomed” or “Zoomed” to “Standard”; depending on your original setting.
- If the tips above does not solve this problem, try this: Tap Settings; Display & Brightness then tap Display Zoom View and choose Zoomed and tap “Set”. A message will say “Changing Display Doom will restart iPhone” and tap “Use Zoomed”. After your iPhone restart, now tap Standard > Set and “Use Standard.
- Tap Settings > Display & Brightness then disable “Auto-Brighness”.
- Restart your device by pressing and holding the on/off button.
- Force your device to restart by pressing on/off and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo.
- Remove and reinstall the app that you are having problems with. To do this, tap and hold the app, then tap the sign when it jiggles. Then go to the App Store and re-download the same app.

Oct 10, 2015 2:25 AM in response to richiefrombondi beachby japyke,Same issue here. Obviously no point in messing around with this and that on the actual phone.
Just advise everyone you know to not purchase iphone or upgrade iphone as Apple is not reaching out to customers with this legitimate issue.
Apple owes all customers an acknowledgement and a reliable workaround until problem is fixed.
