Q: unable to unlock after iOS 9 install

Hello, can somebody please help?

I have just updated my iphone 5 with iOS9.

After an apparent successful installation i can no longer get in to my phone as i can not swipe to unlock/update!

I have no other phone to make calls to and receive them from the apple support team. I have made many attempts to initiate  online chat support with apple but no one has ever called me to start an online consultation .

It will be very difficult for me to get to a store for face to face help.

Is there something i can do from home to reverse this dilemma?

I have read that this has been a common problem so i'm hoping for a common repair.

I have tried the "hold on/off and centre button down for 10 secs to reboot'' several times with no change and my phone seems to not want to connect fully to itunes.

Can anyone suggest an alternative please?

I will appreciate all suggestions, thank you.

When I connect to iTunes I get a pop up box saying "To allow access, please respond on your iPhone". But how do I do that if my iPhone is stuck on the slidebar screen? I can't connect to iTunes and because of that, I can't make a back up or restore a back up. Any advice or is it hopeless at this point?

Ferd ll, thanks for your answer.

I have tried these but have had the same problems as ArtistWicked.

I can only get so far by connecting my phone to itunes as in the final stages for syncing to says ''can not back up/ restore because the phone has not been set up.''

i assume this means that it needs me to ''slide to upgrade'' to complete the installation process which is the problem in the first place.

I am going round and round in circles with this issue and i'm very unhappy with Apple and it's so called solutions and help.

does anyone know if a trip to the store is the only option now?

    thanks again

Try doing a hard reset on your phone when that pop up comes up about entering your passcode. It should prompt you to unlock the phone with your passcode after doing a hard reset and that should get itunes to recognize your phone so that you can attempt to backup/restore from within itunes. My phone wont back up or restore either though, but yours might. I think apple should give us all free new 6s phones for dealing with this BS. I haven't had a phone for 2 days now

    HEAR HEAR COLOGNE25!!

    i haven't one for 2 days either.

I've managed to blag a lift to a store tomorrow so i will ask them if they fancy giving me a free phone for my trouble.

i think i know what the answer will be!

i will see if there is another solution apart the hard reset option, as i have tried this many times.

thanks for your answer though cologne25!

If i gain any insight into how to solve this unsolvable bs from a "genius" tomorrow i will be sure to share it with you guys on here!

    fingers crossed everyone!

    esimpson,

Have you tried the last paragraph? AFAIK, after setting up as new, you should be able to restore from a backup.

If you still see the Slide to Upgrade screen after completing the steps above:

    1. Restore your device. If you don't see your device in iTunes, or your computer won't trust your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds, until your device restarts and appears in iTunes. When prompted, choose Restore.
    2. After the restore is complete, set up your device as new.
