iOS 9 update causes iphone 5s black screens when apps open

After reviewing your post, it sounds like when you open apps the screen goes black and apps will not respond. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

First, try to force your device to restart.

• Forcing your device to restart won't erase the content currently on your device.
• You can force your device to restart even if your screen is black or your buttons aren't responding.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time for at least 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.

I had the same problem and followed the suggested instructions in an attempt to fix it. I did so a couple of hours ago and the problem has disappeared. I hope it stays like that and does not re-appear.

🙂 .... Well I did and so far so good, it appears to have fixed the problem

I did it yesterday and it appeared to fix the issue. However, today I did get a couple of black screens on app launches. I will monitor and try to remember to report the results.

Same problem in ios 9.0.2 on iPhone 6. Rebooting or recovery mode did not help.

I am having the same problem along with quite a few friends, mine is worse, I have to hard reset aprox 3 times a day. its driving me nuts. COME ON APPLE GET THIS SORTED

This is what my phone is doing, after a reset its ok for a bit then it starts again. Grrr I am doing aprox 3 resets a day now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr NOT HAPPY AT ALL

Restarting the iPhone only 'fixes' the issue temporarily. After a while (e.g. one day or sooner), the issue comes back. iPhone 5 currently running iOS 9.0.2, but the issue happened in iOS 9.0.1 as well.

Apple, you need to do something about this soon!

Anyone tried the 'fix' described in the post below? Any results to report?

I attempted the fix suggested by @mario49, I'm happy to say once again Apple once again fails in basic implementation of bug fixes. 'Solution' doesn't work at all. I first experienced this issue during beta testing and have made and continue to make Apple aware of it. You'd think Apple would heed beta testers better than this. The bug catalyst is talking on the phone for longer than 5 minutes.

This issue is for devices experiencing major issues. It's a quaint troubleshooting tip, it has NO bearing whatsoever on the bug at hand.

Looks like the new update 9.1 seams to have sorted the black screen for me its early days yet but so far so good?
