Buying ringtones from your PC

Tones

"You can't purchase ringtones and alert tones from your computer, but you can purchase them using your iOS device with iOS 5 or later. You can purchase tones on iPad, iPhone (3GS or later), and iPod touch (4th generation or later)."

So the question I have is "Why not?"

Seem odd that it can purchase everything else from my computer, but ringtones. Most people I talk to about see this as just one of those thing that do not matter. They say they used an app and create the ringtones they want on their phone and are content.

It is not a life ending question but is is odd, that the phone data is stored in my computer my ringtones are stored on my computer it is the central hub for everything and yet purchasing ringtones while I sit at the computer is unavailable.

Well if you have and idea or reason please let me know.

Thanks

I agree... I don't have wifi

I can' justify the expense... so there are many things I can't do with the iphone......

it's funny, apple has this liberal attitude but the poor... are thrown under the bus

I've been trying to find out how to update, how to move my info and photos to my pc with a cable.... the directions don't seem to work, have tried upload to icloud, nothing happens... so, public wifi isn't safe and I can't connect with cable at home... you can't get there from here..... typical though, all the tech guys think we all have every tech thing and can buy every new thing... I'd thought MS was bad....

and, I have to use up my data plan to shop ringtones?

or pay for wifi?

LOL

so... saves me money, there might be more I would buy and use, but... without wifi...

I can't shop....

I get your point. I think Apple sees the greatest user experience in not connecting a computer to your mobile for installing a ringtone. They prevent you from this happening by not showing ringtones for purchase. All free offers (like zedge or others) are not by Apple and require a cable and quite a few manual steps causing frustration sometimes. I think the best and official ways to set a new ringtone on your iPhone are through iTunes (iOS App on iPhone, pre installed) or TUUNES (iOS App on iPhone or web). It's kind of a philosophy. Showing ringtones on a desktop would mean people buying them but not able to use them instantly. If you're in Ringtones both apps are fun.
