USB to RG-11 Adapters - Huh?

So, I highly doubt that this will do anything for me, but if it will, then I'm pursuing this (but I think extra hardware has to be involved in this. . .). I was in the store the other day, and I found this kit that was a USB converter kit, and it had things in it that converted your USB port to other things. One of those converters was to convert to an ethernet port, and another was a USB to an RG-11 port. Could this possibly allow me to plug myself into a phone line and be a modem? Or, could this allow me to plug into an external modem and then use it? Or will this do me absolutely no good whatsoever and has no use for me whatsoever? I figure it's not the first (that's my high hopes talking that the first would actually work), I'm hoping that it's the second, but I fear it's the third and it's useless.
