Q: iCloud Storage Downgrade unavailable for selection

I am attempting to change my iCloud storage plan from 50GB to 5GB.

I've followed the on-lne help and have reached the window that presents the downgrade option of 5GB but will not let me select it.  A screen cap for my MacBook is attached.

Note how "Done" is greyed-out.

I have also attempted to downgrade via my iPhone (for the same iCloud account) and the "Done" in the top right corner of the analogous screen is similarly greyed-out.

The only possible action is "Cancel".  I have checked a day or two later and this window reports that my "Current Plan" remains 50GB.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), AirPort Time Capsule

The preference pane on your screenshot is shown as locked (icon in upper-right corner). You have to log in as the Administrator and unlock it first.

Thanks for the reply but the lock icon is also inactive.

I can log in as an Administrator elsewhere in System Preferences but this panel always shows as locked.

On the previous screen, after you clicked on the Downgrade Options button it normally asks for your password. Did that not happen?

You can also select the lower plan on that previous screen, then the Next button will become active. If you click on that, the next screen will ask for your ID and password.

    Hi hjohnny

I had this issue and so scheduled iCloud support to call me this morning which they did immediately. The agent told me that because my 200gb plan was current it couldn't be changed by using the "Done" button which is odd as it was set to auto-renew and would therefore always be current.

The fix was for the agent to cancel my current plan whilst I was on the phone and I was then able to buy the new reduced storage plan. Seems a faff but it's fixed it.
