mac mini G4 problem

Hi Folks

I got a an old G4 out a charity shop the other day, really cheap, just using it as a file server , or what ever. It is all working ad I can use it, but the only problem have is-

I can't update new stuff as the old admin password guy is still on there. no disk, so I tried this

1. boot computer and hold the command, and s

2. wait for terminal show

3. release keys

This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.

However, it is read only when I get into the account, so I cant go past the terminal window, as the root key wont budge and let me write. How do I get it to write so as I can type in commands? Or is there another way?

Regards

Hi mate

Thanks for the info, I got it to work eventually. what was happening was I had to be really fast to press the first command dash as soon as the terminal showed.

Otherwise it would freeze, so you got to be quick when terminal pops up, just hit any key for the sake of getting it to type, the you can type away.

anyway thanks again for the links worked well
