Having trouble restarting into OSX from Windows

I am running Bootcamp 5.1, WIndows 10 on a dedicated SSD in my Mac Pro tower. Apple update says everything is up to date. I can select the OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 system disk from the Bootcamp control panel, I select and apply, but when I restart it just boots back into the windows system. When I select "Restart in OS X" it does the same thing. Deselecting and re-selecting the disk makes no difference.

I can still hold down the option key to choose the startup disk, but I mainly use a non-mac EFI video card, specifically an Nvidia GTX760. This means no boot screen.....

This means I need to plug the monitor into the old stock video card so see the boot option screen. (which I keep in the computer for just such occasions)

This is very inconvenient, I have to switch the monitor back after I choose the startup disk.

The OSX disk is obviously visible since it lets me choose it from the control panel, it just won't actually start from it when selected...

any advice? Thanks!

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 3.46 GHz 6-core Intel Xeon 16 GB Ram

My computer is not listed... 2009 mac pro.....

I tried re-installing via the bootcamp assistant, creating the USB disk etc, re-installing on the Windows disk. It will only do version 5.1. Nothing different after trying that. Windows 10 is already running fine on my system. Its just this one annoyance... I don't know if there is any way to force update the bootcamp to 6, or if it will abort running since it would be an unsupported machine. the built-in software update will only load BC 5.1. I can't find any place to download the BC software v.6

You can try Brigadier (https://github.com/timsutton/brigadier) . Here is my test run.

MyName-rmbp:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -h

Usage: brigadier [options]

Options:

-h, --help show this help message and exit

-m MODEL, --model=MODEL

System model identifier to use (otherwise this

machine's model is used). This can be specified

multiple times to download multiple models in a single

run.

-i, --install After the installer is downloaded, perform the install

automatically. Can be used on Windows only.

-o OUTPUT_DIR, --output-dir=OUTPUT_DIR

Base path where the installer files will be extracted

into a folder named after the product, ie.

'BootCamp-041-1234'. Uses the current directory if

this option is omitted.

-k, --keep-files Keep the files that were downloaded/extracted. Useful

only with the '--install' option on Windows.

-p PRODUCT_ID, --product-id=PRODUCT_ID

Specify an exact product ID to download (ie.

'031-0787'), currently useful only for cases where a

model has multiple BootCamp ESDs available and is not

downloading the desired version according to the post

date.

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -m MacBook8,1 -o Bootcamp-MacBook8,1

Output directory Bootcamp-MacBook8,1 that was specified doesn't exist!

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ mkdir Bootcamp-MacBook8.1

MyName-rMBP:brigadier-master MyName$ ./brigadier -m MacBook8,1 -o Bootcamp-MacBook8.1

Using Mac model: MacBook8,1.

Thanks Loner, I gave that a shot. I was able to download the latest bootcamp with the link you provided. When I tried to install it in windows, it said this machine was not supported and would not run. (not surprising). I've got a similar OSX/Windows10 setup on my macbook pro and it will startup fine in whatever system I choose... odd. I dont know if it's an apple problem or a windows problem...
