Q: Upgrading IOS6 In An IPod Touch to IOS7?

I've got an old IPod Touch that's running IOS 6.1.6 (I believe, but definitely 6).  I use it off and on because I'm not a big Apple user, it was actually a birthday gift a few years ago from my brother who's a big Apple guy.  I've never given much thought to updating it as it works fine, but some of the apps that I'd like to use are for a minimum of IOS7.  I stopped in at an Apple Store the other day as I just happened to be in the mall and was kind of given the brush off cause I wasn't there to buy any of their shiny toys.  He did say that I missed the window (duh, needless to say) and I'd just as likely have to buy a new IPod.  Well I don't use Apple all that much as I'm an Android guy (there I said it) and I'd like to know if and/or how I could go about upgrading the OS to at least IOS7?  It runs fine and all, but eventually it's just going to get to far behind to be of any use, even as an occasional device...

Any help would be appreciated...

An iOS device running 6.1.6 is incapable of running iOS 7 and above. If desired, download the current version of those applications to a computer or compatible iOS device, click here, and try following the instructions.

Niel - Okay then that's why I don't remember ever getting any pop up telling me a new version of IOS was available.  That and since going Android I just never paid it much attention to upgrade.  But thanks for tip and I'll definitely look into.

    Much appreciated...
