How do I read an .nfo file (which contains ASCII artworks)?

Hi,

I'm trying to have a look at .nfo files that contain ASCII artworks.

So far I've tried to use TextEdit, but I'm suspecting that the ASCII art can look much nicer (kind of feels like the letters are in the wrong place, and there's no real effects to the image, just plain text).

Is there a special trick to make TextEdit show me the files in a nicer way, or should I download a plug-in of some sort?

And if I should download a plug-in, which one would you recommend?

Really grateful for all the help I can get!
